Zhao Yun was on his way to her. He heard screams that sounded just like Lu Fan. He refused to believe that he heard her. His beloved yet obnoxious  Lu Fan. He rode his earth colored horse through the forest from the center until he saw fire. Crimson light lashing out in hunger, destroying any and everything in it's sight.
"Lu Fan! " He called out. His eyes misty from the smoke. Zhao Yun cautiously entered the now fallen camp and searches for something —anything that can lead him to his best friend.
That was when he saw a young woman with dark hair pooling her head. Her face covered and her body left to burn away. Zhao Yun ran quickly towards the body and froze. The woman was from Shu — just as Lu Fan was. When he picked up the woman, he immediately ran out of the camp, and the first thing he saw was Zhuge Liang running towards him.
Of all the times he's been in war, the loss of many men; Zhao Yun couldn't handle the loss of his best friend. His beloved friend , the woman he was going ask her father to marry. He saw his entire life in her eyes and now she's gone. Like the sun being blocked away by the rain clouds, Zhao Yun can feel his heart breaking down. His soul ached as he pressed his friend's face towards his.
"Lu Fan... please..." He whispered. His lips kissing her head. "Please wake up. Please tell me this is a dream. "

He remembered watching her sleep years ago. Her back against a tree, long dark tresses covering her eyes and back. The flowers were falling from the tree and landing right on the girl. Zhao Yun had been watching her this entire time; admiring her natural beauty. How precious she looked when she was asleep. The petals fell along her body. Right over her chest.

"Lady Lu Fan, " Zhao Yun said, while lightly tapping the woman's shoulder. She refused to budge, and that was making Zhao Yun push her more.

"Wake up,Lu Fan.  Your uncle is looking for you. " He whispered. She groaned and turned her head.

"No.... " he perked up as Lu Fan was muttering in her sleep. "I can't go.... Who's going to hit Zhao Yun whenever he thinks about war too much? "
He smiled at her words, he knew there was always more meaning to how and why she hits his head, but he never figured it all out .
"You have no choice ,little girl. " he mocked in his best imitation voice.
" Unless you tell me one thing your heart desires, you'll be stuck in the moon palace for good. "
Lu Fan was silent, Zhao Yun sighed and waited.

"Zhao Yun, my heart desires Zhao Yun."
Zhao Yun 's face was a slight blush, and his eyes were widened. He looked so lost and at the same time happy.
"My heart desires you also, Lu Fan. "
He picked her hair of flowers and cautiously lifted her from her position. "What are you doing? "  Lu Fan called out, before flicking his head. "I did not ask for you to carry me."
Zhao Yun sighed and put her back down.
"You were sleeping, I did not want to disturb you."
Lu Fan walked away, knowing that she was late for her training, she added haste to her pace. Zhao Yun smiled while holding his head. Like a fool, he followed his lady home, just to see that she is safe.

Zhao Yun's eyes were burning with tears. Clear stains down his face as he pressed the side of Lu Fan's cheek to his face. He didn't hear a heartbeat, nor did he hear any draw of breath. Of all the things he's lost in his life, out of all the reasons he's made of becoming a warrior of Shu, Zhuge Lu Fan was at the top of every list he came up with.

And now she's dead.

She's gone.

" Zhao Yun.. " Zhuge Liang's pace was now slowing down and his eyes were on the dead body in his arms. Zhao Yun had the face of a child dealing with a terrible and great loss. "Is that..."

"I...I couldn't save her." Zhao Yun sniffles through his tears. His voice was uneasy, and closed his eyes battling the tears that are to come. "Not in time."

Zhuge Liang cleared his throat and tried his best not to cry. His niece was like his daughter, she would have been a great successor to his legacy. Zhao Yun now has seen anger within the Dragon's eyes.
