“Her ankle!” Hazel shouted from the ladder. “Cut it! Cut it!”

Annabeth’s mind was woolly from the pain. Cut her ankle?

Apparently Percy didn’t realize what Hazel mean’t either. Then something yanked Annabeth backward and dragged her toward the pit. Percy lunged. He grabbed at her arm, but the momentum carried her farther into the abyss.

“Help her!” Hazel echoed.

Annabeth’s last images of her friends was Nico hobbling in her direction, Hazel trying to disentangle her cavalry sword from the rope ladder. The rest of Annabeth’s friends were still focused on the statue, and soon the shouting and rumbling of the cavern fared away aswell.

Annabeth began to cry out for Percy. Her limbs flailed, reaching for a place to grab onto. Too late, she knew what was happening: she was falling. She could have just cut it away immediately. She had thought it was just loose line, but with the entire floor covered in cobwebs, she hadn’t noticed that one of the strands was wrapped around her foot— and the other end shot her straight into the pit. It had attached to something heavy down in the darkness, something that she was about to crash into.

"Percy!" Annabeth cried out, desprate for him to wrap his arms around her and tell her it was going to be okay. She grabbed on to a tiny ledge as she fell. It felt as if her shoulder was dislodged from their sockets."Please! Percy! Help me!" She thought Percy could save her. She thought her hero would come for her just like he always would. She thought that her one and only Seaweed brain would come get her and take her back home with her, hugging her and telling her that everything was going to be okay.

She thought wrong...

She saw Percy run fast, faster than she had ever seen him run before. His eyes were wide with fear and was only focused on saving her. Nothing else mattered to him. Not the Argo II, not the crew, not the gods. Just Annabeth. Just as he was about to reach her, he tripped on something. The tapestry that depicted Percy and her kissing underwater. He fell and got up as fast as he could to try save her. It wasn't fast enough.

By the time he got to the edge of the cliff, the thing pulling her in gave one final yank, pulling her arm of the tiny ledge.

"Annabeth!!" Percy yelled as he saw her fall to her death. Annabeth cried out his name, his face getting smaller and smaller as she fell deeper and deeper into the pit leading to her death. She was dead she knew it. But even in her final moments, she wasn't thinking of a plan. She wasn't thinking about Arachne. She was thinking about the only name that mattered to her...

Percy...

________
Percy

He watched her fall as he couldn't save her. He watched as she tumbled into eternal darkness and was never seen again. He fell to his knees.

"Annabeth!!" He screamed into the darkness as she disappered. "No... My wise girl..." He said. He couldn't stand loosing her. He was ready to jump right in. Nothing would matter except Annabeth. Percy was ready to save her like she wanted him to, or die trying. He got up and tried to jump in, only to be stopped by Hazel and Nico.
