some of
her best
memories -
in one of
the ice cream
shops downtown,
too many drunken
nights ago,
she stared
at the boy,
full of
concentration,
as he tried
to twirl the
ice cream for her,
in that hidden pub
at 5th avenue,
a few weeks ago,
she couldn't
contain her smile
and the reddening
of her cheeks
when strangers
commented they
look good together.
Somewhere
in this city tonight,
she goes back
to where it started,
sits on the floor
and buries her face
on her palms.
Somewhere
in this city,
a heart is shattering,
and the urban buzzing
dulls the breaking noise
and the memories in between.
