I drove to Farrah's house first even though she lived the farthest. I did not want to be in the car with Jordan by myself. I decided that I would not tell anyone about what happened, not even Farrah.
I pulled into her driveway, honked twice, and closed my eyes to think.
What would I do if Jordan brought it up? Why would Jordan lead me on like that? Why did I tell hime who I liked?
Those are the questions that flooded my mind as I sat in the Jay. I heard the car door open, so I shook my head and turned to my best friend.
"Hey girl! What's up?" Farrah said to me as she threw herself and her bag into the passenger seat. She was perky and happy, as usual.
"Great!" I told her as I put on a fake smile. I started up the car and started driving to J and Max's houses. "How did your family dinner go last night?"
"Eh, it could have been a little better...actually a lot better. First William pitched a tantrum and the Susan spilled her milk all over my mom!" William and Susan were Farrah's younger siblings. William was four and Susan was eight.
"Wow, sounds like your parents had their hands full. Hahaha," I told her and laughed slightly. We pulled up to Jordan's house where he was already sitting on his porch.
Farrah rolled down the window and shouted, "What are you doing freak? Hop in!" We both laughed as he picked up his bag and walked towards the car. He looked at me, and we caught eyes before I turned away. I couldn't stand this!
"Hey Aster, Farrah! We have to hurry or we will miss homeroom," Jordan said after he closed the door of the car.
"I know, I know," I told him as I started the ignition. "I'll hurry, but we still have to get Max."
"Ugh! Can't we leave him! He doesn't even want to go to school, and Jordan is right, we are going to be late for homeroom!" Farrah told me pleadingly.
"No," I told them curtly. "Do you want him to graduate next year? He has to come."
"Ya, ya. Whatever," Jordan grumbled and crossed his arms. We pulled into Max's driveway, honked, he got in the car, and we headed to school.
I smoothed out my casual dress as I sat at the lunch table alone with Jordan. We were the first ones out of our group to get to luch on Friday. Usually I didn't mind, but today, I was extremely uncomfortable. "So, how was class today?" I asked him. Good start, act normal.
"Eh, it was alright I guess. Yours?"
"I actually really liked mine! I had English, and we are reading Macbeth right now. I really like it. As you know, I love any book I can get my hands on. Haha," I responded to him. This whole 'acting normal' thing wasn't that hard.
"Hahaha of course you like Shakespeare!" Jordan responded with a laugh. "So I wanted to ask you about last night. What--"
"Sup losers! It's Max in the house!" Max shouted from across the cafeteria. He looked at Jordan and I and jooged over. This is the only time I have appreciated Max's obnoxiousness. He then procedded to throw his arms around me and steal a bite of the sandwhich that was on my tray.
