Lillian's POV
~8 years later~
"Make a wish honey." Mom said, ready to take a picture on her phone. 'I wish I could see colors' I though, not risking it being said out loud, and blew out my candles. As of now, I'm 14. I smiled at all my friends who where lining up to get cake.
I grabbed a slice and sat down on the grass next to the park slide. I have always had my party at a park, well as far back as I could remember. One by one, everyone got their cake and joined me in the grass. Not very many people came, which was fine by me I had always been a introvert.
My bests friend, Carson, Lisa, and the four others, Madison, Destiny, her boyfriend, Jayy, and Seth and I sat eating cake on one of the ,extremely uncomfortable, park benches and talking about random crap that was going on at school and at home.
We all where kind of jealous of Destiny and Jayy because they could see color. My mom tested it out when she first met them (they spend as much time together as possible) and ever she was suprised. "So Des, what are the colors called again?" I asked for about the millionth time since I met her. I always like to hear whats there called and how they look.
"Well the primary colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet." she explained, not even annoyed by my question. Her and Jayy understood our fascination because they also wondered what color was until they met.
"Alright guys, its time to get going!" Mom called to the seven of us as my friends parents started standing up and throwing their plates away. "Well guys it was nice to hang out, I'll see you on Monday." I said as we mimicked our parents and trew our trash away.
I hugged Lisa and high fived Carson before they all left to go home. "That was fun" Dad said, putting the presents I got into the trunk of the grey Prius. Mom said the car was green but I only see grey. I buckled my seat belt and leaned back, playing music on my iPod I had gotten for Christmas a few months ago.
I let Panic! At The Disco fill my head as my parents engulfed themselves into their own conversation. I nodded my head along with the beat as I thought about my brithday. One year older means one step closer to meeting the one and finally seeing color.
I didn't pity my self for not being able to see them because neither did (almost) everyone else. It wasn't too long before we pulled up infrom of our same old house. Don't get me wrong, I love the house with all my heart, but I had never lived anywhere else.
I got out the car to help dad get my stuff out. Mom unlocked the door as we did so and we stumbled in, setting everything on the ground. "I'm gonna go open this stuff." I said, pulling one earbud out and grabbing as many bags as possible and going up the stairs.
With this process(grabbing as many bags as I could on each arm) it took two trips. I set the last bag on the hardwood floor, catching my breath. The house may not look to big but damn, thats alot of stairs. I sat down on the floor and leaned on the side of my dresser and stared pulling thing out the packages, reaching up to grab scissors off the top whenever needed.
I thanked god that I had cleaned my room the day before because all the wrapping paper, boxes and plastic would have made the mess even bigger. Honestly, I hated cleaning my room but mom said if I didn't I couldn't have my party today. I stood up and streached out my back and started positioning things where they should go in the room.
Because my room was a good sized, I have plenty of places to put my new items. I set the new plushie that Lisa got me on my shelf with the rest of my collection. I didn't get many toys because well, I just don't like them that much. When I got a laptop last year it kinda sealed my toy playing off.
I hung up the new posters I got on my white walls, that mom said they had painted light blue, with some tape. I layed down on my bed when I was done, looking up at my colorless celing that I had spatered with a black color so there where spots everywhere.
"Lily! Dinner!" Mom called from the kitchen down stairs. I huffed and stood from my spot and made my way down. As I helped dad set the table, mom started bringing in the food. Hamburgers, my favorite. "Yum" I said, licking my lips and sitting in my chair.
"Did you have fun today?" Mom asked as she set the platter in the middle of the table. "Yeah, it was cool." I replied, reaching over, grabbing two burgers and setting them on my plate.
After dinner, I put my dishes in the sink and made my way up the stairs. I'm an only child so it was quiet most of the time, which I didn't mind. Sometimes I get a bit lonely but I have friends for a reason.
I flopped down on my bed and looked over at my clock which read 8:30 and decided to Skype my friends. I reached over to my end table and grabbed my laptop and powered it on, making the screen light up.I double clicked in the little icon with the 'S' on it and started a call with everyone.
We stayed up until 3 A.M Talking and just doing random things and maybe a game of 'truth or dare' once or twice. "Alright guys I'm going to bed." I said looking at my tired looking friends. We exchanged our 'good byes' and signed off, putting the laptop back in its place.
I stood and a stretching before walking over and turning out the lights and blindly finding my way back to my bed and stripping down to my underwear, climbing in and dosing off.
