"Ben, I love you." I whispered to him silently. I seriously had a hunch that he was the one.
"I..." he hesitated a little. "I love you, too." His lips smashed into mine and I smiled at the thought of us being in love. I straddled his lap. Good thing the floor his apartment was on was deserted. So what I'm sixteen? So what he's 19? Love is love and I once heard, 'you can't help who you love.'
But did I really love him? Was it only an impromtu tonight? I'm not sure. My phone buzzed as soon as his hands were rising up my shirt.
"Hello?" I answered without getting off of him.
"Brenda? Where in the world are you?" My mom's worried voiced filled my eardrums. My mom was at least 43... she's such a tired old woman. But who cares...I'm young, wild and free.
"On my way home. I stopped by a friends house to help her with some homework. I'm fine." I lied straight through my teeth.
"Okay. Get here as soon as you can. Its important." Then I heard a click. What could be so important.
"Do you really have to go? We were just getting started." He wined.
"I would but...my mom says its important." I said. I got off of him and grabbed my purse and backpack. "Could you drop me off at home please?" I asked.
"Anything for my princess." He started pulling me back down and kissing my neck.
"Come on lover boy." I said maneuvering towards the door.
"Alright." He said.

I made it to the house and I walked in.
"Mom?" I said.
"In here darling."
I walked to our family room to see two detectives. One was a woman who looked to be in her late thirties and a man who seemed to be in his early thirties. What is going on?
"Hi, I'm detective Richard and this is detective Dina." I shook their hands. I looked towards my mother to see a unreadable expression across her face.
"Where's matthew?" I asked. Matthew was my seven year old brother who I loved to death. She didn't reply. She just kept staring at the detectives.
"Ma'am, I would like to inform you that your father has been murdered." Detective Richard announced.
I instantly broke down crying and my knees began to feel weak. What?
"Are...are..." I couldn't even get my question out before I felt my face inches away from the floor. My dad and I were closer than anyone...and now he was gone? It couldn't be. No. No.
"He was found dead yesterday. He had been stabbed to death and he was robbed. I'm sorry." Detective Dina said.
"Why him? This is not fair!" I ran out and up the staircase towards my room.
I heard sniffles after I landed roughly in my bed. I checked under it to see Matthew. I helped him come from under there and cradled him in my arms.
"Its going to be okay." I mumbled to him while rubbing his soft brunette/ blond hair.
"But...but...but he's...gone." He whispered.
"Don't worry. Everyone leaves eventually." If I couldn't be strong for myself. I had to be strong for him. Not for long though.

I ran as fast as I could across town to reach my destination. My long wavy brownish blonde hair was everywhere...but I didn't care. I couldn't live there without my father. I may sound selfish, but I couldnt deal with it. I finally reached The Peaks Apartments. I walked towards the building and got onto the elevator heading to the sixth floor.
