Honestly, no one ever knows what a Weeping Angel is thinking about when it encounters a human.

Is it afraid? Is it angry? Is it excited?

No.

No one knows. No one but that Weeping Angel knows.

And you wonder why they always attack humans.

Now, as most of you know, not many people are fortunate enough to escape the Weeping Angel. They're fast. Faster than a blink of an eye. Now, if you're blind, that can be a bit of a problem. Never look away, never blink. You. Will. Die. Need I spell it out for you? One touch from these stone creatures will send you back in time, to your death. Or worse, it could snap your neck when you're not looking.

Only the Doctor has escaped these horrid creatures. Sure, there were others, but of those who have met a Weeping Angel more than once and survived, the Doctor is the only one. Well, was the only one.

Cue Sam Winchester.

Younger brother to Dean Winchester, Sam is an excellent hunter. He and his brothers have faced many abnormal creatures (demons, angels, ghosts, vampires, werewolves, etc.), but never have they faced a stone angel who had abilities so powerful, it could scare a real one.

Now, back to Sam.

Samuel Winchester. Sam. Sammy. Moose.

He is one of the unfortunate ones.

1:13pm. Roseburg, Oregon. Tuesday.

Sam sat in their motel room, intently researching the poltergeist case they were on.

Dean was out, grabbing them some food from the diner across the street. It was tedious, sitting there, researching. Maybe he could head out, stretch his legs a bit.

Nah, Dean would get upset that he wasn't researching. So he continued.

Ten minutes later, Sam stood up and walked outside. He wouldn't be too long, he was just gonna have a short walk then come back before Dean did. Problem solved.

Except not.

As Sam walked, he had this strange feeling that he was being followed. The sound of stone grating across the ground was faint, but he could hear it on this almost deserted street. Sam looked back, seeing nothing behind him but houses and trees. Shrugging, he turned forward.

There. He saw it.

A statue.

He swore it wasn't there before, but there it was. A statue of a weeping angel. It was.... sad. But also extremely creepy. Sam took a hesitant step forward, eyes closing briefly as he blinked and then-

It moved.

He knew it did. Before, it was standing between the bushes and now, it was in front of him. Only two feet away. Sam took a step backward, pulling out his gun and pointing it at the stone angel.

He blinked again.

And now it was less than one feet away.

I've always considered Sam to be the smarter one of the Winchester brothers. I was proven wrong when he began to shoot the Weeping Angel like a madman. When that didn't work, Sam stared before turning and running.

He didn't get very far.

So, this first chapter is going to be a short one. I suppose I could have made this the prologue, but I think it's good enough for chapter one. :)
