Waking up inside this metal box

My oblivious mind is unable to understand

Why I have been brought here.

A chair at my back

One which I have been strapped to

Stubborn and unhelpful

As I make an attempt to flee.

My clumsy limbs flail

As I try to understand my predicament

Before I realise the true source

Of my uncomfort, the heat.

Unrelenting and torturous

My body is embraced by the warmth

I try to escape again

But to no avail.

Sweat furrows my brow

As I begin to panic

My lip trembles violently

And a cry erupts.

What kind of monster is responsible

I did nothing wrong

As I sit here and wail

Hoping for someone to hear my call.

The heat is carnivorous

Burning my skin

And the heat, with addition to my tears

Makes my vision blur.

My memory swirls

Well what memory I had

And my final fragment of hope

Is lost

My cry softens down to a whimper

And with no energy left

I stare at the ceiling

Of this deadly metal box.

And soon after, my young brain goes numb

No longer waiting for mummy to come.
