"Laurel! Have you made dad's tea?" Aunt shouted from the sitting room. Right now, the time says it's past nine and I'm supposed to have made it by 7, uncle comes very late because of his duties at the club. After I moved in with them, things started getting better for me, they became my family. I didn't have the ability nor experience to run the club I got from my inheritance due to my school work so my uncle, mike my aunt Mitchell's husband took over for me and he has been running it for the last four years now.
Lots of time have gone by, im now in my final year in college majoring in business administration. I will soon graduate and then I'll be able to take back the club and relieve my nuncle from the stress. Although he's not complaining, I know it's stressing him and also he has to come back late almost every day and I know Mitchell would love to have her husband home with her more.
I quickly grabbed the boiling kettle and poured it into his cup"Yea I have" I shouted back putting it on a tray, I'm really grateful for all they have done for me, not every one can do what they have dond. Walking out of the kitchen with the tray and cup I placed on the table just as the door opened revealing my uncle.
I waited for him to step inside and shut the door before walking towards him to welcome him.
"Uncle welcome!" I said hugging him the same time his daughter Francesca did. She was a few years younger than me, about 6 years, she was a carbon copy of her mother physically but she was more like her father character wise, quiet and reserved."How was work honey?" Mitchell said hugging him and placing a quick kiss on his lips. It was like a ritual in the house, when uncle comes, everyone must come out to greet him before going to bed.
"Stressful'" he replied heaving a breath before plopping down on the couch tiredly. Aunty followed and sat next to him helping him remove his tie.
"Goodnight" I called to them as I walked back to my room. Although small, I loved it. I was already in pyjamas so I just laid down on my bed. Life hasn't been very easy but I haven't given up, no matter how hard it got, my revenge motivated and after So many years things are actually starting to fall in place. I'm graduating in a few days, I will have my degree in business administration finally so that when I return to take back my father's company, I'll actually have a fighting chance.
For years, I have been planning, I have worked the hardest I can to achieve all my goals. I still see them in the news, the papers and on the internet. Different articles written about them and the company but what hurts me the most apart from the fact that they don't deserve to be the ones on the news, papers is that after taking the company away from me, they didn't even have the decency to handle it properly. For the first few years the business was OK but recently rumours have been circulating about them going bankrupt, the business is failing and that causes my heart to squeeze in pain but I know it won't be for long, soon I'll be where I'm supposed to be, the head of my father's company, my company.
Not too long after I fall asleep dreaming of my revenge.
. . . . .
Graduation day came and went, and I graduated in flying colours.
Now that I have the ticket, a.k.a my degree in business which allows me to be able to run my father's company without people questioning me. Part A of the plan is completed.Time for Part B, Make over!. I'm scared but also very excited. I'm here with my friend Ella, my only friend actually. She knows about my life, my revenge and she supports me. We met in college, she's an heiress actually. Her parents are filthy rich but she doesn't act like it, she's very free and fun to be with. She's actually the one that came up with the idea of a make over.
When we first met, I didn't like her, I felt she was too free especially with guys. But after working with her for my whole first year, we became best of friends. She got me, she understood what happened to me and didn't judge me when I told her about my plan, she actually sat me down and helped me arrange it properly making sure there were no loopholes.
We are at her personal stylist place right now. She's sifted behind me, reading a fashion magazine. Did I mention she's a fashion designer? While I was studying business she was studying fashion. All I know about fashion I learnt from her. She has long blonde hair with ocean blue eyes, standing 5'7 with a figure eight. You would think she has the perfect life when you meet her for the first time, at least that's what I taught. But after some time I realized that like every other person in the world, she has her own problems and demons to fight. Our problems are actually quiet similar, her mother is dead, and her father remarried and the woman turned out to be a bitch. After years of putting up with her shit as Ella put it she finally decided to move out immediately she entered college. First time I went to her so called apartment I was speechless. According to her, she and her dad came to compromise, he sends her monthly allowances that would buy a house and she promises to visit him every month and play nice with her step Mom but at least hers a little easier, she didn't her everything that was hers taken away from her in the blink of an eye.
"What's with the frown on your face L?" She asked breaking me out of my thoughts
"Nothing E, just thinking" she insisted that we call each other by the first letters of our names.
"Well stop it, it makes you look old. We are trying to make you beautiful here, work with us here right belle?" She asked the stylist who nods in agreement. She's already very straightforward, another thing I like about her, she doesn't beat around the bush although sometimes it gets annoying.
Minutes later, the stylist was done and my black hair was now brown. Next was make up, an artist came up and did that. He wasn't really into the light kind, when I told him to make it light he laughed and asked that if I wanted it to look natural I should have just left my face the way it was. After that I stayed quiet and let him do his thing. By the time he was done, I could have gone for a beauty pageant and won.
My dress was next. Everything I picked out Ella put back. We finally agreed on a light blue dress with a U-shaped neck with spagetti hands. The dress was tight fitted like a glove, ending a little above my knee, according to Ella, if some boobs were out, then the legs exposure should be to a minimum. The make up made my green eyes stand out. At first I was unsure about changing my hair colour but looking at it, I loved it. I was standing in front of a mirror in the dressing room, after examining myself, one thing was clear I have matured a lot. I wasn't looking like the 18year old innocent girl anymore, I was looking like a mature beautiful 22 year old woman."Wow! You look breathtaking girl!!" Ella exclaimed. She looked equally breathtaking in her killer red little number. We both walked out the shop to her car.
"So where are we going again?" She asked making me laugh. I almost forgot the reason for the make over, today I start as the new managing director of the Fire Club. My uncle was there, waiting for me. I looked my wristwatch, it said the time was 7:40pm. Thank God we weren't running late. The meeting started at 8pm
"To the Fire club E, time to claim what's mine" I exclaimed loudly grinning widely. She smiled and shock her head humourously before stepping on the gas and we were off.
