If it wasn't for my parents' shouting I wouldn't have come out of my room. I could have stayed all day and night finding more clues about my friend's disappearance but no, life had to be difficult so I had to leave the house or else my brain would have exploded to bits. So I had to go to school, there was no safer place to go anyway but that didn't mean I enjoyed going to the school. I hated sitting there all day writing nonesense when I know Toby is out there and I have no idea what happened to him. I'm stuck here in the hellhole for another 5 hours and I just can't wait to get home and get some work done.

Recently, Toby went missing. He was my only friend in this godforsaken town and he went away, not even bothering to tell me about it. Whispers around the town said he ran away with his girlfriend, Rhea but I know its not true. Rhea got knocked up by another guy and moved to a nearby town and Toby never mentioned her to me this past few months. So where could he be? I don't know. Why would he have ran away? I don't know. I'm a bad friend, but no one can blame me, Toby doesn't really want to talk about specific things anyway. The police wasn't a big help either, they ignored me and said it was just a phase and he would be back in a day or two. It has been 7 days! Do you see him anywhere? No! They should be moving their asses already!

So far, on my own, I got one lead. His brother might know where he is. Toby mentions him to me once in a while on our walks through the forest when I ask him about his family. He never told me about his parents though, just that his older brother lived somewhere in Springfield, Illinois . What was his name again? It sounded so close to a water, it was a body of water I think. I remember laughing at Toby when he mentioned his brother for the first time. River. River Goodwell.

Then suddenly a loud wail echoed outside the school, and we all turned towards the window and got a glimpse of a police car parked up front. Our alarmed teacher didn't have the time to react when all of us stood up and rushed up to the window where we could see the Principal talking to the sheriff. They're hands flailing in the air and talking quite dramatically, the Principal's balding head distracted us because it kept on reflecting the light from the sun. Then the ringing stopped and the Principal was leading the Sheriff inside when Mr. Foyler ushered us back to our seat. What are the police doing here now? Decided to check if Toby is in AP History right now or actually dead in some sewer?

"Miss Lee" I looked up at my balding Chemistry teacher and he motioned me to the door, and when I turned to see who's out there I felt annoyed all of the sudden. So the Sheriff was actually here for Toby. "May I have a word?"

I didn't reply, I simply stood up and packed my things and followed him out, ignoring the sudden whispers in the classroom. The sheriff is a big guy, but young. He's the youngest sheriff we had in town, if I could guess right I would say he's in his early thirties. Blonde and tan, with a well trimmed beard and crinkle free uniform, he's a decent sight to look at or at least acceptable to the standards.

He lead me to the Principal office and told me to sit down but the actual Principal Herley was not in sight. I decided to ignore this and looked straight at the Sheriff who sat down in the Principal Herley's chair.

"I'm Sheriff Dave Williams, and you probably know why I called you here, Ms. Lee" He raised his eyebrows at me and folded his arms across his chest. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes and stared straight ahead. "And I'm sorry for this inconvenience, but I have a couple of questions about the missing person, Tobias Goodwell who I have heard is your friend?"

I snorted, "Took you long enough to cause inconvinience" Toby went missing 7 days ago! They actually waited this long?

Dave glared at me and replied, "Tobias had past episodes where he would disappear for a couple of days and come back but it has never exceeded for more than 7 days so Mrs. Reynolds -his guardian- filed him as missing this morning. I assume you know something about this as the boy is your friend, right Ms. Lee?"

I grit my teeth and tried to hold in my tongue. They're not even trying! Vilma only reported this morning? Motherfucker. I knocked on her door the day after I found out Toby left and she kicked me out of the house at 12 midnight! She wasn't even concerned about her missing nephew. The only reason she probably called the police was because her liqour supply had probably ran out and she needed Toby for the money.

" If I did, would I still be here?" I glared at him. Dave sighed and leaned forward in his seat.

"Ms. Lee, I would appreciate it if you would answer my questions properly" he clicked his heel on the wooden floor and added, " If you to see him again, you better participate"

Then I blew up. " How dare you! I have searched for him for the past few days and I have tried reporting it to the police but you kept on ignoring it! Even if I know something, why would I say it to you when all you ever do is sit around and terrosize some poor girl who only wanted to help her friend but the authorities are too stupid and self centered to actually listen to another people!"

"Calm down, Ms. Lee" was all he managed to say but I can see his face red and his vein pop but I couldn't care less. I huffed and stood up to leave but he called for my name one more time.

"Ms. Lee, we have a found a letter that was addressed to Tobias Goodwell in your room. How did you find it?" I stopped in my tracks and turned around.

"You went into my room?" I bit my lip in rage and wanted to punch the wall but I was too busy waiting this stupid A hole's response.

He cleared his throat and looked at me straightly in the eyes " We had a warrant and we needed information. So again, Ms. Lee, when and where did you find the letter?"

I glared at him so hard and said, "Up my ass"
