HOLLY:
A few weeks had passed since I met Sheldon Cooper and his friends and I was getting on with them really well. My job was going well too. Every thursday I met at Sheldon and Leonard's flat for pizza night and most nights I was either there again or at Penny's.
"Hey guys?" I asked them one Thursday, "It's my birthday on Saturday and I was wondering if you would like to come over and have a Star-Trek/Star-Wars night?"
"Ohh yeah!" All the guys said enthusiastically.
"I have makeup sets, music and cocktails as well, Penny, Bernadette... If the movies aren't your thing..."
"Yeah! Sounds cool!" Penny said
"I'll be there!" Bernadette said, smiling.
"And..um... I mean..only if you want to...would you guys want to dress up?" I asked hesitantly. As I said this everyone's faces lit up.
"Yeah, seems like a fun idea!" Sheldon said
"Mmm, I actually agree!" Said Penny, giggling. The others nodded in agreement.
So on Saturday I was up at 9am to buy party food and drinks. I spent hours setting up as well. The polished work surfaces in my bright flat were covered in plates of food and various snacks and the small dining table had been turned into a cocktail bar and I... I was dressed as Spock. I could've been a woman but I had always thought Spock was the best.
Penny was the first to arrive along with Bernadette, they were both dressed as Princess Laya.
"Happy Birthday!!" They both shouted as I opened the door.
"Aw thanks guys!"
"We got you something!" Said Penny, passing me a red parcel, wrapped in Christmas paper. "Sorry about the wrapping paper.." she muttered.
"Guys, you shouldn't have!" I said, opening it as they shuffled through the doorway into my flat. It was a set of incredible hulk hands.
"Oh my god, thank you so much!" I said, hugging them both. Just then there was a knock at my door.
"Come in!" I called. The door opened and Leonard walked in looking faintly pissed off , followed closely by Sheldon, Howard and Raj. There were ALL dressed as Spock. Though Sheldon's outfit was considerably better.
"Happy Birthday Holly!" Leonard said, hugging me.
"You look great!" Howard said, laughing. "And Bernadette...you look beautiful!" he continued, hugging his girlfriend. "We, on the other hand, didn't discuss what we were wearing..." he said, gesturing at the other men, exasperated. But then Sheldon stepped forward, to change the subject.
"Here, it's for you." I smiled as Sheldon handed me a small, blue box. "It's from me." I opened it to find a pair of Batman earrings. They were small black-bat studs with sterling silver backs.
"Oh, they're great! I love them, thankyou Sheldon!"
"No problem." He said, smiling.
"And this," Said Leonard, handing me a silver bag, "Is from us lot." I opened it cautiously to find a Marvel comics box.
"Somewhere to put your collection." Howard added.
"Thanks guys, it's brilliant!"
After that we got the films ready and settled down on my huge leather sofas with enough food to last us a week. The girls watched a lot of the films but also painted their nails and made cocktails for all of us. Penny spent ages trying to get Sheldon to have one, but to no avail.
At the end of the night Bernadette and Howard went back to Leonard's, despite Sheldon's moaning and Leonard went back with Penny. Raj went and fell asleep on Sheldon's sofa and Sheldon stayed at mine for a bit to avoid the mayhem.
"I should go to bed soon..." He said, standing up.
"Yeah me too."
"Thankyou for inviting me tonight. I had fun." We walked towards the door.
"No problem, me too."
"Holly?" He said, just before I closed the door,
"Yeah?"
"Um," He hesitated, "Happy Birthday." Then he gave me a almost-not-awkward hug, smiled and hurried off.
I couldn't deny it anymore, I really liked Sheldon Cooper.
