HOLLY:
I stood in my new, unfamiliar bedroom and pulled my grey Marvel comic vest over my head, over a black, skin tight, turtle neck top. I wriggled into my black skinny jeans, put on a pair of smart, black, ankle boots and put on some eye-liner and pale blue eye-shadow. I wore my bright ginger hair in loose bunches and, to finish off the cute look, I put on my pair of black 'Nerd Glasses'. They were actually real glasses but they happened to look stylish and make me look about 18. I grinned, my freckles really helped me achieve that look as well!
'Hello I am Holly Deacon, Your new lecturer' I said to my reflection. I had moved from Oxford in England to start a new job as a physics lecturer at the California institute of Technology or 'Caltech' as it was commonly known. 'Hi, I'm Mrs Deacon and I will be your new physics lec- No. Urh.' I frowned at myself, a lecturer is probably the worst career choice for such a socially awkward person! I grabbed the key for the door and walked out of my new flat, ready to start a new life in America.
I lived on the fifth floor of the block of flats and the lift wasn't working so I jogged down the stairs quickly. As I reached the bottom I caught up with two men. One was short with dark messy hair and Glasses. He wore a blue shirt and a green coat and some smart jeans and trainers.
"Hi!" He said, smiling, "You're new here, right? I think you have moved in above us... Fifth floor?" He folded his arms and grinned.
"Yeah that's right, I just moved from England, I'm Holly. Holly Deacon." I held out my hand for him, as he shook it he gestured to his right.
"I'm Leonard Hofstader And this is Sheldon Cooper." I turned to look at a tall, skinny awkward looking man who had short, neat, dark hair. He was wearing a pale red, long-sleeved T-shirt that he had rolled up to his elbows, with a green, short sleeved one over the top. He had black cotton trousers on and also wore smart black trainers.
"Hello Sheldon, pleased to meet you!" I held out my hand and Leonard laughed.
"Sorry Holly... He doesn't really shake ha-" He was cut off by Sheldon.
"Yes, pleased to meet you too. It's actually Dr Sheldon Cooper, PhD." Sheldon said, shaking my hand quickly.
"Wow, and why is Holly so special?" Leonard asked.
"Yeah, why doesn't he shake hands often?" I asked
"He's a total germaphobe." Leonard chuckled, nodding at his friend. I turned to look at Sheldon who had turned away and was wiping his hands on an anti-bacterial wipe. I laughed.
"Well I better be going... I'll miss my bus and I don't want to be late for my first class!"
"You're a teacher?" Leonard asked
"Yeah, well, actually a lecturer. Physics Lecturer." As I said this Sheldon looked at me intriguingly.
"Me too, will you be working at Caltech?" He asked
"Yeah.."
"Oh we do too, so Leonard will be happy to give you a lift!"
"Yeah If you want one." Leonard added.
"Only if you don't mind..." I said
"Not at all!" They both said, Leonard gave Sheldon a quizzical look but said nothing.
As we approached the car Leonard turned to me.
"You don't mind sitting in the back do you? It's just that I have loads of files and work on the front seat"
"Yeah that's fine." I walked up to the small car and opened the door behind the driver's seat. Sheldon was already comfortably sitting behind the passenger seat and was closely inspecting the seatbelt as he pulled it across his T-shirt. I could feel his eyes on me every few minutes as we drove through town, once I turned to look at him but he quickly turned away.
