Flash's Light

Chapter 1

§

I levitated three more books, reading the titles and placing them under their letter sort. I levitated four more when Spike burst through the door, running toward me with a scroll in one of his claws.

"Twi-light, I have..." Spike was panting like crazy. "... News!" He finally caught his breath, handing me the scroll. "Princess Cadence is coming with Shining Armor, and one more but, I can't remember." I unrolled the scroll and read it carefully.

"Princess Cadence... Shining Armor..." I skimmed through to find out who this other pony was. "Flash Sentry?" I meticulously searched my own memory, trying to find out if I knew this Flash Sentry or not.

"Um, Twilight?" Spiked attempted for my attention, gaining it. "This scroll was sent, um... yesterday." He plastered a guilty look on his face.

"WHAT?" I jumped up, levitated books a little faster, and ran all over the place to clean the castle. Spike put on his maid outfit, helping me tidy up the castle. "I wish you would've told me sooner Spike!" I yelled, scrambling to clean.

*knock knock*

I woke up, looking around. I realized I had fell asleep while polishing Pinkie Pie's chair. Then, I gasped. I signaled to spike to keep cleaning, but quick. I flew down to the door as fast as I could, hoping to catch them and stall them for a while. Just before I handled the door, it flung open, revealing Shining Armor, Cadence, and this Flash Sentry that was mentioned.

"Twily!" Shining exclaimed, running toward me and giving me a hug. Shining finally let go of me, now looking me up and down.

"You look a bit tired." He said.

"Ya think? Of course I am tired. I was cleaning the castle top to bottom, accidentally fell asleep, and I had a dream you arrived here early, standing at the door for about an hour and- why are you guys looking at he like that?" I asked, confused at their expressions that were displayed.

Princess Cadence stepped foward. " Well, it seems to be that whatever your dream was, actually happened." As she told me that, I felt bad. I didn't realize I fell asleep, and I don't think they know it was an accident, no matter if I say it or not. But before saying anything, I had to confirm if my suspicions were correct. Well, not really suspicions.

"Who is that?" I asked, the Pegasus stepping foward. "I am, Flash Sentry." Flash kneeled, looking up at me with a wink. Cadence and Shining moaned. At least Flash said it formally.

I giggled. He was quite the charmer...

Shining sighed, and stepped foward. "Well it's kind of difficult hearing that, because Flash not only practiced that once, but the whole train ride here." Shining said.

Flash looked at me. He shrugged his shoulders, putting an innocent look on his face. I smiled, admiring his built figure. But then a question came across my mind. A question I thought of whilst I was reading the scroll.

"Mind me asking, but why is Flash here?" I asked, hoping it wasn't just for image, like many ponies who come by the castle unannounced.

Cadence and Shining looked at each other with restless faces. "Well Twily, we figured since you have your own castle now, you might need a few more guards than you have now." Shining explained.

"What guards?" I pointed out the obvious, extending my forelegs to each side of me. I had no castle guards. After all, I'm sure no one is going to force a threat upon me or anything.

"Exactly. You need at least one personal guard, Twilight. You never know what could happen to you." Cadence added. I froze, only thing moving was my eyelids. They twitched, not following along with the idea of castle guards. I was getting used to a princess life, but I miss the days where I didn't need a personal body guard following me everywhere.
