It was a bad idea. Luke knew it, but no matter how many times he kept telling himself to not do it he couldn't make himself agree. It had been four whole months since Ashton had broken up with him and he was heartbroken. It hurt seeing Ashton so happy with her.
As of right now Luke was sitting against the bar, on the other side of the room was Ashton and his knew partner. Luke kept his eyes away, waiting for the woman on stage to finish so he could have his turn.
Singing was going to be hard, the song he had chosen had so much emotion behind it, but there was no going back as he was called and began walking up the stage. Everyone in the room quieted, all eyes landing on him. He took a shaky breath sitting down on the stool of the piano.
It was a bad idea, but it would lift a huge weight off his shoulders. Or so he hoped.
Slowly he began playing, each press of the key ringing behind the other, he tilted his head up to the mic and naturally the words came out.
"Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry

Right then his voice cracked for the first time, but definitely not the last.
"I was just guessing
At numbers and figures
Pulling the puzzles apart
Questions of science
Science and progress

Memories started rushing through his mind. Ashton was all he saw. The kisses, the hugs, the love. It was all he could think off, tears building in his eyes as he tried to finish.
Calum was watching, ready to run up there when his best friend needed him.
Ashton could slowly feel his own heart breaking.
"N-nobody said it was easy
Oh, it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard
I'm going back to the...s-start."
The word came out broken, a chocked sob came from his throat, his head falling to land on his arm, tears wouldn't stop coming as he sobbed loudly.
Calum was quick to get to his side, helping the sobbing boy up and leading him out of the room of pitiful stares, and the one stare of heartbreak.
Once they had gotten back, all luke could do was cry, and when Ashton got back and just went to bed, luke couldn't keep his sobs from getting louder.
All he wanted was to go back to the start.
