A few days after being in the clan camp, Jake began to get used to the feeling of sleeping in a den instead of his comfortable kittypet bed. He yawned, carefully stretching, as not to wake up the others in the den with him. It was already sunhigh, he could hear the soft hum of busy cats in the clearing. He picked his way among the few other sleeping warriors and padded out into open.

He still wasn't used to seeing so many cats in one place. Ryestalk was chatting with a few other warriors Jake had yet to learn the names of,  Flamepelt, Lilywhisker, and Flailfoot were all sunning themselves in the clearing, and a group of apprentices, of which he recognized Pigeonpaw, were tussling in the clearing, waiting for their mentors to take them out for a training session. A sudden weight on Jake's shoulders caused him to fall to the ground in a flailing mess. The weight soon vanished and he blinked to see what had attacked him.

"Morning Jake!" Doespring's chipper voice greeted him. He grumbled a greeting in return and began to groom his pelt where it had become screwed up.

"I'm sorry if I scared you." Doespring's voice sounded again with a hint of guilt. "I was put on training duty with you and was just so excited to get started." She looked to the ground, fumbling her paws in the dirt, embarrassed. A purr erupted from Jake's chest.

"It's alright Doespring." He purred, giving her shoulder a lick. "Just next time a simple hello will do." She looked up, a small grin on her face. "So, what are we learning first today?"

"I was thinking of going out with a few of the apprentices ." Doespring replied. "Since you're basically at the level the new apprentices are at, it should be a good place to start."

Jake nodded his head. He didn't really understand everything yet but he figured she had good judgement.
