Rick ordered everyone into the house to fill us in on what happened and what was going to be done about this kid. The tension in the air was clearly noticeable. Rick and Shane shared glances before Rick breathed out.
"We couldn't just leave him behind. He would've bled out.. if he'd live that long.." He looked away deep in thought.
"It's gotten bad in town." Glenn mumbled just above a whisper.
I stood emotionless a little further away from the group, just by the frame of the dining room.
"What do we do with him?" Andrea asked causing Rick to shift uncomfortably.
Hershel walked into the room behind Rick. "I've repaired his calf muscle as best I can, but he'll probably have nerve damage. Won't be on his feet for at least a week."
Shane scoffed.
"When he is, we'll give him a canteen, take him out to the main road, and send him on his way." Rick glanced over at each of us, finally landing on me.
I slightly nodded thinking it was probably the best thing to do, until Andrea and Shane began to intervene.
"Isn't that the same thing leaving, him for the walkers?" Andrea was clearly agreeing with Shane on this.
The door opened slightly. I looked over my shoulder to see Daryl approaching us. He nodded toward Carol who automatically lit up a little. He then came and stood right next to me, my arm touching the sleeve of his jean-like jacket, and crossed his arms. He didn't acknowledge me even when I was inches away from him. I reverted my attention back to the discussion.
"He'll have a fighting chance." Rick responded to Andrea's question.
"We just gonna let him go? He knows where we are." Shane said growing impatient with this whole deal.
"He was blindfolded the whole way here. He's not a threat."
"Not a threat." He scoffed again. "How many of them were there? Ya kill three of their men, you take one of 'em hostage, but they just ain't gonna come looking for him!"
"They left him for dead, NO ONE is looking for him!" Rick stated raising his voice.
Hershel and T-dog spoke a little more calmly to try to get the group, mainly Shane, to calm down. Shane walked out after Hershel told him to do them both a favor and shut up. He almost pushed past me until I felt a hand grip my shirt and pull me back. I looked up at Daryl who stared back at Shane, only to let me go after Shane was out the door.
Everyone remained silent, some walked out soon after. "(Y/n), can I talk to you?" I turned around looking back at Rick who looked a little less tense.
"Uhm, sure Rick." I ignored the look Daryl was giving me and followed Rick towards the camp site.
He started pacing slowly before looking over at me, smiling a little. "I just want to thank ya for not letting Lori go alone and saving her life. I-.. I really appr-.."
"Rick, it's fine. I made you a promise and stuck by it."
He smiled wider. "Yeah, ya did. Next time, just make sure she stays put."
I nodded and returned the smile as he began to walk towards his tent. I looked over at Daryl's tent and decided against my better judgment to go over. I hated being mad at him, drove me up the wall.
His tent was slightly open. I poked my head in to find it empty.
"What're ya doin?"
I jumped turning around immediately, clutching onto my chest. "Don't fuckin' do that, you scared me!"
