Arie's P.O.V"You have one entry of notes since the last time I saw you. This is unacceptable, Arie. You need to study him on a daily basis in order to get a correct profile on him," Dr. Reynolds remarked with narrowed eyes, her face screwed up into a distasteful expression.
I huffed in frustration.
"I'm trying my best. It's hard to study someone whose never in the same vicinity as me. He's gone before I wake up and comes back after I fall asleep. He's never around for me to study him," I complained, rubbing my forehead to ease the headache I was experiencing.
She flashed a tight-lipped smile, folding her hands together on her desk.
"I see. Well, then arrangements will be made so you two will spend more than enough time together," Dr. Reynolds decided.
My face dropped at her words. I felt my stomach twist nervously.
"Is that necessary?"
A merciless glint shone in her hawk-like eyes.
"It is if you want to stick with the deal. You want to stick with the deal, don't you?"
I opened my mouth to speak, but she quickly cut me off again.
"I mean, there's so much for you to lose...," she trailed off, a smug smirk edging on her lips.
I bit back a nasty retort, taking in a deep breath.
"No, I am definitely not going back on the deal," I surrendered with a sigh.
"Fantastic. I'll get my secretary to start fixing your schedules right away," she finalized.
"You may go now."
Without another word, I stood up and headed straight back to my room, ready for yet another day of staring blankly at four white walls.
It sometimes feels like I'm going crazy. I have nothing to do, nothing to think about, no one to talk to. I'm completely alone.
It's absolutely unnerving.
I stepped into my room, heading straight for my little cot.
Flopping on my back, I stared at the ceiling completely stressed out.
Now I have to see more of Dax. Us spending time together is not going to work. He's going to catch on to what I'm doing, he'll know I'm profiling him.
This is not going to work.
"What's with the scrunched up face?"
I jolted in surprise at the sound of his voice, my breath catching in my throat.
"Nothing," I eventually managed to say. "Just thinking."
His black eyes scrutinized me closely, making chills crawl up my spine.
"Thinking about what exactly?"
My mouth dried up.
"I don't see how that's any of your business," I replied stiffly, narrowing my eyes at him.
A wicked smirk appeared his smug face.
"No need to get your panties in a twist, princess. Just asking."
I didn't reply, laying back down to face the wall next to me.
"Where were you?" His question rang out in the silently tense room.
