The Question

And-

Is there a way

Maybe to cross a line

Without ever saying

You were going to start in the first place //

And reach a point

Around which

Emptiness develops like fire

Without flame

Spittering and flickering hopeless time //

And then

They can't hurt you

Like birds in a cage

Bicker from within

Shoot them down with stones

That roll inside your heart //

But-

Like blind poets

Who see with words

And the essence of dawn's gift

Look not with your eyes //

But now

Look no farther

Wise up your birds

Teach them words

Maybe they will speak poems //

But more so

In this emptiness

Spilling forth from time and reason

Can you wake up

And-

Just be? []
