Another Shadowed Life
She takes a step forward
Her feet sliding across the uprooted grass
Bony fingers trailing each old ornate tombstone delicately
She has been burned by the shadows of her household
She feels like her insides are going to implode
Like she can’t last any longer
Each passing minute she craves to be stronger
A silent ignored craving
She stands with a vacant stare
Life leading downwards and hope going nowhere
She imagines her own name carved finely into marble
Thunder roaring above
Dancing with lightning
She sees herself dancing on her own grave clearly
Almost tugging death forward
Pleading for it to take her
The next day comes with a deep slice
Burrowed into the soft skin below her nose
She lies to keep his violent secret behind shrouds
She sees nothing but black
The path ends at a crossroad
She leaves the place where she is better off dead
The place he lives
How could he abuse her?
Punch and beat her?
Cut and slice her?
How?
Her own father.
