'Sorry for lack of editing and spelling/ grammatical mistakes
this is also kinda a filler , we are heading into the main plot after this chapter
and the next one should be longer'
lights flickered over my eyelids, shining pink and stars into my vision. i could feel my stomach churning and my limbs shaking like leaves in the wind. My heart beating erratically against my chest, I shot up my body flying off the chair with a surge of energy. I did not want to know what the test had been. I wouldn't find the result out anyway , ificans don't get a choice in their sector placement. I had heard that others got to request a sector to be placed in, even rumors of people picking their placement.
The nurse moved hastily out my way, allowing me to march out the door without a word.
We weren't allowed to run in public, only in gyms but I kept my speed higher then average as I passed down the side walk. Blurs of people moved past me flashes of sector colors stood out among the clothes a bright red arm band, an orange coat or a blue bandanna. I dodged each passer only allowing my arm to touch onto others wearing the off white cloaks of the others of my sector.
Then a voice called out, an unnatural robotic voice cried for attention.
And the whole city froze, people stopped in their paths which not a second ago they were carving with eager speed. It was like the city had been turned into a photograph, everyone turned into an image. I had only been outside for one or two announcements in my life and I had been very young. But I remember sensing the importance of it from those around me, who for one moment we all stood as one and watched together. Back then it seemed like even the birds stopped flying to stand with us and the wind held back for that brief minute.
the voice called over the speakers of the city, the screens that sat high on buildings and displayed themselves like billboards. An plain black background held three words that glow brightly in the center
"we are one" the phrase is constantly displayed, through out ifica it is displayed on posters on walls, signs on buses and trains. Before news reports and in between entertainment programing.
The words faded away to be replaced by new ones
"we are parts of a whole" the voice echoed throughout the city, all around the city people stood still and watched the screen and listened.
"we must all play our parts"
to achieve greatness
we are one
all sectors play a part
in the greater whole
to making us great
to keeping us alive
to helping our race survive
we are one
all parts of a whole
working together
like organs in a body
each sector does a duty
to the greater body of our country."
this was the usual long speech played every second day once in the morning, once in the evening.
At home you can continue to carry on, along as you listen.
In public you must stop and watch. As a sign of respect to thoose who fought to make our country and sectors great.
"today on the eve of enlistment " the voice continued, frowning I watch the screen this must be a special announcement.
"we must remember this message and hold it in our hearts" I suddenly surged forward a force like a brick wall pushing me to the side. Figures stalked past me, the only movement in a frozen picture of humanity. Black cloaks with red stripes across the chest stalked through the crowd, the hoods covered the faces of the movers hiding them in shadows. Bodracs were the only sector that wore red, but they favored black. They push past other citizens, who unlike me only glanced in their direction before returning their eyes to the glue of the screen, even the shock of someone moving around during announcement could distract them, they were loyal. They could do what they were supposed to. But I watch the figures in black. I wanted to watch the screen, I strive to be loyal but I still watch the black cloaks weave through the crowd.
That was until the announcement finished, switched the switch that returned the crowd on and they disappeared into the mesh of people that crowded the city.
'Sorry again about lack of editing
