Prologue:
Thief & Judge
The Court had adjourned after the first case. The commencement for the case with the thief was about to begin.
As the Judge and the jury took their place in the courtroom Thief walked in. He was slightly ahead of time. Judge hadn't even settled into his seat yet. Judge tried to look around the courtroom to observe his surroundings but Thief's gaze was too strong.. it demanded attention. Judge looked directly at Thief and the two men made eye contact. Thief respectfully bowed his head... never taking his eyes off of Judge.
"Court in session... all rise!" Commanded Bailiff. He had also observed the intense stare-down that was going down between Judge and Thief, and he wanted to intervene. Something told him not too. He wasn't sure what it was but a voice in his head told him not to intervene. He looked over at Thief, and Thief smiled. Judge slammed down his gavel. The entire courtroom attendance shook. "We are going to take a break!" He announced. Everyone looked confused and began talking and asking questions. Most people had just taken their seats. The noise from the chatter in the courtroom rose again and Judge slammed down the gavel hard. The loud thud made most of the jury jump from their seats. "Now!" He yelled.
As people began to leave the courtroom Bailiff looked over at Judge and Judge gave him a nod of confirmation. Bailiff deserted his post and began walking out, he shot a threatening glance at Thief before reaching the exit doors. Thief smiled again, he seemed to be challenging Bailiff. Bailiff grew uncomfortable with the confidence that Thief displayed, but he trusted the Judgment of Judge, so he turned away and walked out of the courtroom. As Thief turned to walk out with the crowd he felt a strong urge to stay. "Where are you going?" A voice in his head asked. He stopped and his eyes widened.. the mental urge now had a voice. He turned back to look at Judge. Judge briefly closed his eyes and nodded his head. "You stay here." The voice continued.
