When I got in the plane
I was amazed at the practiced Pilot
for taking me up so high.
When I got out of the plane
I was amazed at my skillful self
for having conquered the sky.
I stood there vain and silent
planning my pompous tale
with which I'd impress my friends.
I stood there proud and silent
relishing just how I'd tell
and hyperbolize for my friends.
Then I caught sight of the Captain
Striding strong and silent
leading his flight-attendant train
And seeing that regal Captain,
the true Hero of my flight,
I saw that I was being vain.
