Champ POV
As I listened to the doorbell ring a wave on happiness washed over me. I was so glad I had someone like Emmy in my life.
About 5 minutes later Ava opened the door all weird looking like she had been crying.
"Hey nigga" she smiled giving me a hug
"Hey I missed you where you been" I asked
"Too much to explain" she said taking my bags
I walked in the house and smelled popcorn. We must be having movie night.
I went to the kitchen to see Emmy drinking from a wine bottle.
"Damn girl slow down" I laughed
She smiled as she put down the bottle and gave me a hug.
"We goin have so much fun tonight" she smiled
We sat down on the couch and turned on the scariest movie we could find. We got drunk and ate popcorn and chips and chilled. After that we jammed and danced to music until we feel asleep. This was a good night.
Kia POV
I picked up my phone to call Emmy so I can come over and we could get started on this project. The first time she didn't answer but on the second call she answered on the 4th ring.
"Wassup" her raspy voice said through the phone
"Damn girl you still sleep it's bout to be 1 in the afternoon" I said
"Shhh stop screaming, what do you need" she whispered
I knew she had a bad ass hang over. I be acting the same way. I laughed to myself.
"Look I need you to text me your address so we can get started on this project" I laughed
"Nothing is funny Kia" she spoke
"Sorry, but still you need to do that for me an I'll be ther in an hour so get up" I said hanging up
A few minutes later she text me her address and I was on my way.
When I got to her place I rang the door bell and she opened it. She looked a mess but beautiful as ever.
I walked past her and into her living room. Her house was nice.
"Well just make yourself right at home why don't you" she mean mugged me
"Sorry it's just a habit" I said opening my laptop
"So what you had in mind" she said sitting next to me putting her head on my shoulder
"I was thinking we talk about the police brutality but I kind of want to do it on the election on the new president" I said still trying to debate
"Honestly it's going seem a bit typical because we are talking about something that is dealing with our race and you know people judge I don't have time for them bitch ass teachers to be in my face about nothing cause I'm trying to have my last semester in high school drama free" she spoke rolling her neck
"I feel you but we should give them something to talk about" I paused "I mean look at it this way, we two black girls fighting to be number one in our class. What's more to say about it every black person is not a criminal or a drug dealer or a convict. This people get killed over what exactly, being black. We regular people with regular lives and regular jobs just like the rest of them" I spoke truthfully
She looked at me for a while.
"You got a point let's do it" she said taking my computer
She went online and research all the stories from the 1950s to now on police brutality she started a power point and put all the information in order from dates to names and more stuff I would've never thought of. I can see she was really serious about that attorney stuff and she was right she is intelligent enough for it.
