It's been two weeks since Drake told me about Scarlett. Everyday, Drake has been teaching me all he knows about being a Death Angel. It's kind of ironic how we call ourselves angels. I've learned how to kill someone by just touching someone. Now that it's fall, I went shopping (which was torture) for a new wardrobe. Lance and Ruby don't really hang out anymore, but he did invite me to his first football game as the quarterback. I got it in the mail yesterday. I battled with myself to go today after school, but I have practice with Drake. We were supposed to be learning how to control people's actions. I pulled on a Linkin Park shirt and jeans with my leather jacket and Timberlake boots.

Drake had me on a Demon blood diet so that my abilities would enhance, but the side effects would be that I would become sinister, wicked, and have a bad temper. My hair started becoming darker after four days and after a week, my temper was out of control. My fridge was now stocked with only Demon blood. I didn't really wonder where they got the blood, but it didn't really matter to me.

Ianna and I became getting close. She taught me how to stop someone's heart by looking at them during lunch one day. I also was told that I really wasn't affected by their abilities.

I ran down the steps and went through the front door. I stopped instantly when I saw Scarlett waiting on the porch for me. She was wearing an orange dress with a leather jacket. She had a white headband and orange shaped earrings. I pulled on my aviator sunglasses and started walking away from her.

"Carter, wait!" She came running after me. She caught up to me after I'd stopped in my tracks. "Carter, why are you avoiding me?"

I stared at her, trying to instill that numbness that seeped into my cold heart.

"I-"

"And I don't want that 'I'm sorry' crap because we all know that that's not true." She was wrong, I did feel sorry, but not anymore. I enjoyed having the power to kill, torture.

I turned away from her and shouted over my shoulder, "Scarlett, if you don't let me go, I will hurt you!"

I plugged in the headphones in my ear and started toward school. The rhythmic beating of the drums filled my head letting my mind go free. I pulled out my 2 liter bottle of Demon blood and let it flow down my throat. It didn't make my head spin as much as before, but it still gave me a buzz of energy. In the background of the music, I heard feet tapping on the pavement behind me. I kept my pace neutral and lowered the volume of my IPod. It was a male and had a lot of muscles. I took another gulp of Demon blood and put it away. I felt my dark energy bursting at the seams and I internally chuckled. I let it loose and directed it around me. It reached toward the man behind me and I heard a grunt of pain and a thump.

I dropped my bag on the ground and walked toward him. He was still alive, so I tightened my energy's grip on him. His eyes rolled back in his head when I loosed my grip on him. I continued to do that until he made a decision to speak.

"We will cleanse the Earth of you scum." His voise raspy.

Suddenly there were arms around me. Someone held a knife to my neck and a gun to my head. I tried shaking them off, but they had me in a tight hold.

"There's no use in struggling." A man appeared in front of me. "We're are here to collect you for the Archangels to exterminate you and your kind." He got closer to my face. "I suggest that you cooperate." he whispered in my ear.

"And I suggest you get away from me before I put that big head off your shoulders!" I snapped. I directed my energy at him, but he didn't seem that he was in pain.

"You can't do it because of the brass of my belt." He pulled his shirt up and revealed a shining belt. "All of us are wearing one, so don't waste your energy. I want to actually enjoy torturing you for information."
