Chapter Seven

It's been two weeks and no one has gotten me from this prison. If they don' t get me out soon, I'll have to 'entertain' myself. I get up each morning, drenched in sweat from still resisting my true form.

"Monroe. Time for breakfast." The officer announced, opening my cell door.

I lifted my feet off the bed and stretched out my muscles. I slipped on my shoes and pulled the button down shirt they gave me over my large arms. I follow the Hispanic prisoner to the lunch room and sit at an empty table. They brought over my food and left me to my thoughts. I picked the scrambled eggs with a fork and wondered if they were supposed to be this rubbery. I've been living on Demon Blood for years now and this food looked disturbing. Suddenly I heard feet coming toward me. I looked up and saw a group of guys, hate written all over their faces.

"I see we got a new face. Let's greet him boys." The man that acted as the ring leader said. "We should give him a proper greeting." He laughed, his eyes narrowing at me.

"Gun, I don't think we should go at this guy. The others have heard things about him. He's Carter the Killer." One of them whispered to this so called Gun.

"I don't care Fischer." He shot back. He stepped around the table and smashed my tray to the floor.

I fought against the urge to kill him right there. I got up and glanced at him before alking toward the yard. But when I was about to pull the door open, something connected with my head. I turned to see that Gun holding an orange and was about to throw it. I tilted my head to the side and laughed.

"Please tell me you're going to throw that at me. It'll give me a reason to kill you."

He threw it and before it hit me, I grabbed it and threw it back at him, hitting him in the chest, causing a rib to crack. The lunch room door slammed open and Scarlett came rushing in, with others behind her.

"Carter, he's not worth it!" She yelled, trying to reason with me.

"Too late." I growled. My dark energy instantly came out of the cage I had built for it in my mind. I reached forward and let it wrap around his body. I tightened my hold on him and heard blood gurgling in his mouth. Uh oh. I raised him off the ground and brought him forward. When we were a few feet away I smiled at the pain shining in his eyes.

"Carter, please stop this." Scarlett begged.

My head snapped in her direction. "He provoked me and now he dies. I did warn him."

"Please." The son of a gun choked out.

"Please kill you slowly? Good enough for me." I flicked my wrist and he was upside down. "Good bye." I blinked once and his limbs and blood were everywhere. It splattered on my face and my dark energy bathed in the energy fix it was getting.

I turned on my heel and saw the horror on Scarlett's face. I bent down and whispered in her ear, "I'm waiting for you." I pressed my blood stained lips on her cheek and walked outside, climbing over the barb wire fence and jumped over, sprinting away.

I checked the clock and saw that Scarlett would be almost here. I got up and began walking around, picking up things that looked interesting. I opened a box which revealed the necklace that I had lost years ago. I had no clue what it meant back then, but I think I'll figure it out soon enough.

The front door opened with a thump and I came out to greet her.

"Carter, what the hell are you doing in my apartment?" Her gun was pointed at me, but then she lowered it reluctantly.

"I wanted to say hello." I smiled and plopped down on her couch.

"Get out." Anger burning in her eyes.

"I think I like it here, it's homey." I laughed and turned the necklace I had lost and found in between my fingers. "I hope your boyfriend doesn't mind that I'm using his clothes. I needed a change of clothes. But don't worry, mine are in the wash."

"You didn't have to kill him." She dropped down next to me and groaned. "You didn't have to kill him."

"Aren't Archangels supposed to be glowing and giants and all out and saving people?" I asked, letting her lean her head on my shoulder.

"Thise are the Guardian Angel's job. The Archangels enforce. I'm supposed to kill you." She stated, kicking off her shoes and snuggling closer to me.

"Are you going to?" I asked, playing with her hair.

"No. But I'll do everything I can so you don't seal your fate with your father. You can't go to hell Carter. If you do, you'll hve to reap souls. I won't be able to save you." She begged.

"What did you think of me when you first met me?"

"That you were made to be destroyed. But then you hadn't killed anyone then. You hadn't even been Marked by your father."

"What do you mean, Marked?" Surprised at the weird term.

"Marked. It's a ritual when children of angels or demons get chosen by their parents or parent in your case. They engrave it into your skin."

"The necklace." I muttered under my breath.

"I got chosen by my dad, Dragon. The lightning necklace was engraved in my skin and then I grew tattoos. But you can only see it. Unless you seal away your fate. I haven't yet. I will only if you come with me." She said, looking up into my eyes.

"I can't. I'm not like you."

"That's what your father wants you to think. You're mother was a Guardian Angel and she had you with the devil."

I jumped up and ran my hand through my hair.

"What am I supposed to do?" I muttered to myself.

"Embrace your angelic side and don't go to see your father." She reasoned.

"It's not that easy! You don't understand, my father's side is who I am. I was chosen by my demonic side, not my angelic one." I yelled, stressing out.

"Carter, you can stop killing people." She got up and put her hand on my back, making soothing circles.

"It's not that easy." I said again looking at her.

"You have a year don't you? I have people who can help. They owe me favors. Just give me a chance to fix this, but you have to stop killing people."

"I can't promise anything, but, sure. I'll try."

She nodded and sat back down.

"I asked my boss to let you stay somewhere else. Such as Pegasus Hotel."

"Thanks."

"But you owe me one." She laughed.

"I can think of ways to fullfil that." I smirked.
