Video Games and Arguing over Destiny

"Sign."

"No."

"Sign."

"No."

"SIGN!"

"..no."

Apple continued to read her book while She heard Raven's exclaims of frustration.

"Its not my fault I don't want to sign."
Apple said.

Raven glared. "It is too! If you don't sign, I will never be the Evil Queen, I will never have my armies, I will never poison you and I won't ever be ok!"

"Drama Queen much?" Apple murmured under her breath.

"What was that?" Raven asked, her eyes narrowing, her hand beginning to glow. "You're one step closer to me burning you to crisp, you selfish, spoiled brat!"

Apple knew that was the sign to leave before things got ugly.

"On second thought, I think I am going to go read on the library. But no, still not signing. "

Apple closed the door to their shared dorm room and quickly headed down the hall. While trying not think about the angry screams and banging and smashing of things in their dorm.

Apple sighed. Apple and Raven were forced to live in the same dorm room, by Headmaster Grimm, since apparently Raven wanted her own dorm but couldn't, and Apple unfortunately had the only dorm without a roommate.

Apple was a nice girl, but Raven...not so much.

Especially since their stories were interwoven together, and when she refused to sign on Legacy Day, Raven and Apple weren't exactly on great terms.

What Apple needed was some time to think, especially after the whole Legacy Day thing.

Instead of going to the library, she went to the rec room, because why not? She saw that it was practically empty, minus the two guys playing pool and a couple kissing in the corner.

She sat the couch and look at the video games. Empty. No one was using them. Apple was bored and needed something to keep her mind occupied. So she played. It was some racing carriage game, she didn't care.

"Hey um, Apple..mind if I play?"

Apple looked up and saw Humphrey Dunpty looking at her and holding a controller.

"Oh. Sure. Be my guest."

"Thanks. "

She and Humphrey played for a while, in silence, until Humphrey spoke up.

"That was brave, what you did."

Apple stopped the game and looked at him.

"What?"

"On Legacy Day. You rebelling and not signing. That was brave, and wickedly cool."

Apple shrugged. "I guess..." she replied half-heartedly.

"What's wrong?" Humphrey asked. "You don't look too happy about that. "

Apple shook her head. "At first, it felt great, But now Raven is mad at me that I didn't sign, and many more people too. I mean, I am Apple White, who has a spellbinding story, a Happily Ever After, a great future Prince, and is perfect in every way. But I don't want to be just Apple White, Daughter of Snow White, Princess. I want me. Apple, the girl who followed her dreams and did what she wanted to do."

"What's that?"

"I-I am not fully sure what that is, but it's definitely not just being a princess and waiting for a kiss to get happiness. Call me selfish but, destiny isn't...freedom. Freedom to do whatever you wanted, be whoever you wanted. I just wish Raven and Headmaster Grimm would understand. "

"I am sorry about that."

"No need. Now that I refused to sign, I am sure this is just the beginning of a very difficult road. "

Humphrey smiled at her. "Well...to be honest, I am glad you choose that road. I never really wanted to follow my destiny and fall over a wall and break every bone in my body and possibly never be fixed or healed and end up dying. I mean, what kind if a story is that? What's the lesson in that?! Sure, my dad might've been lucky that all of the king's women had no problem fixing him, but what about me? I could die, and I don't want that."

Apple smiled faintly. "That definitely is a horrible destiny. No offense."

"None taken."

"You know..talking about this is making me feel much better. Thanks Humphrey."

"Wow, ok um sure. No problem Apple."

Apple laughed. "Let's keep playing video games, I am almost winning. "

"In your dreams."

I always shipped them, or at least in the book, since that's where they have actual interaction, and its cute, unlike in the webisodes, where they don't ever like talk to each other, except for that one episode with Duchess...
But oh well! This is a fanfic, and I do what I want with it MUA HAHAHAHAHA!
