When I got home after work on Thursday, Corey was gone. He had left some time that day to go to practice, and he was staying at his house in the city. There was note on table from him. Before even reading it, my eye caught the signature at the bottom. It was his autograph; I found it funny that he signed a personal note with his autograph. His signature reminded me of the puck that I had from last year's playoff game. I needed to ask him to sign it, and ask him if he remembers tossing it to me. Probably not; I'm sure it does stuff like that all the time. Anyway, I focused back on the note.
"Danelle, call me tonight when you have time to talk, so I can explain about tomorrow. I hope you had a great day. Look forward to seeing you tomorrow on the glass. You will need this code: 5011. Corey Crawford."
I laughed. What a weirdo! Corey Crawford. Like I could forget. Why would I need that code?
I went about my normal nightly routine with Nathan. Dinner, homework, bath, story, bed. After Nathan was asleep, I took that opportunity to call Corey.
"Hello?" He said.
"Hey."
"Hey yourself. How are you?" He asked.
"Better now. How was your day?"
"It was alright. Practice was tough today, but we needed it with the game and then the off day. We will have time to rest. Okay, so about tomorrow...will you have time to stop at my house to get the passes?"
"Yea, I will grab Nathan from school as soon as I can and head straight downtown."
"Great. I will leave the passes for the game and the garage on the counter. I will also leave my merchandise card, so you can buy Nathan a jersey from the store."
"Corey, that's not necessary. I can buy him a jersey." I really couldn't afford it because even the kid jerseys were expensive, but I didn't want him knowing that.
"It's fine. I have merchandise credit. It's for instances like this, so buy him a jersey and buy yourself something if you want. I put your name on the list of people with permission to use it."
"Okay. Thank you. So the passes will have the seating information that I need?"
"Yes, and you have Abby's number in case you can't get in or if you are hassled. And you can always go see Shawn, my ticket guy, if you have issues."
"Is anyone sitting in your seats?" I ask cautiously.
"Yes. And it's not Dom, but if you were wondering if it was her; I wish you'd just ask. I gave out tickets to different friends through the AllStar break. Any tickets after the Disney on Ice road trip you want, you can have unless my parents or family are in town."
"I didn't mean it like that, Corey."
"Yes, you did, but it's okay. Any questions about tomorrow?"
"No, I think I understand it all, but wait, how am I going to get into your house to get the passes?"
"With the code I left you; it's the garage code. Park in the garage, I will leave the door into the house unlocked. Drop your stuff and grab the passes. We will make sure to get a key to the house made for you on Saturday."
Wait, what? A key? To his house? Did I just hear him correctly? That's a huge step. So, I told him so. "Corey, I don't need a key to your house."
"Sure you do, this way after games and stuff you don't have to wait around for me or if you are coming to the city and I'm not home, you have access to the house. It's just a convenience thing." He explained.
