Corey and I woke up Monday morning pretty late in the morning.  We decided we would see what the day held once we got up and got moving.  Sadly, plans changed when shortly after we had breakfast and a shower, my sister-in-law called.

"Danelle! Your phone is ringing." Corey yelled from the kitchen up to his bathroom where I was getting dressed.

"Who is it?"

"It says Tricia."

"Answer it.  It's my sister-in-law."

Not too long after that, I hear Corey coming up the stairs.  He hands me the phone and says, "Here.  She says Nathan is sick."

"Hello?"

"Hey.  Sorry to bother you, but Nathan is not feeling well.  He has been coughing most of the night and he feels really warm. I don't have a working thermometer though, so I don't know for sure."

"Oh no.  Okay, I will come and get him.  Thanks."

"No problem. See you in a few."

Well, there went Corey's and my day together.  I finished drying my hair really quick and went downstairs to find Corey.

"Corey?"

"Out here." I hear him say from the garage.  I walk out to the garage.  Holy crap was it cold outside.

"What are you doing?"  I ask him.

"I figured we had to leave to get Nathan, so I was warming up the car and taking out the garbage."

I just stare at him because that is so weird.  I never imagined Corey Crawford taking out the garbage.  I laugh and he looks back at me confused.

"What?!" He asks.

"Nothing.  Just laughing at myself.  I'm sorry our day together is ruined."

"It's not ruined.  We will still be together; we just have more adult priorities to do.  No big deal."

"I have to figure out what's wrong with my car too after we figure out what's wrong with Nathan.  My sister-in-law is at their apartment in Wrigleyville.  Can we stop at a Walgreens or CVS before we get to her apartment?"

"Sure thing.  I am at your service." He says as he opens the car door and leans in to kiss me.  I kiss him back.  Man, I wish we could stay like this all day, but it's cold and I have a sick kid I need to get.

"Ready?" I ask him.

"Yes, ma'am."  He says as he closes my door.

When we arrive at my sister-in-law's, Corey stays in the car while I run in to get Nathan.  We stopped at CVS, so I could get a thermometer.  As I enter her apartment, I see Nathan laying on the couch, and he looks terrible.  I immediately take his temperature, and the thermometer reads 103.  That's not good.  I text Corey to come in; I need him to carry Nathan to the car.  I bundle him up; he's like a sack of potatoes.  He is hardly moving.  I thank Tricia for watching him.  Corey comes in and looks at Nathan and asks me with concern in his voice, "Do you want to take him to Dr. Terry?"

"Who's that?"

"The team doctor."

"I can call his actual doctor."

"Are you sure?  He looks terrible."

"Take him to the car, and I will call his pediatrician to see if we can get in today.  If we can't, then you can call Dr. Terry."

Luckily, the pediatrician could see Nathan a little later that day.  I sat in the back of Corey's car with Nathan.  He laid across the seat with his head on my lap.  I had never seen him like this, and I was scared.
