Nate took me to every sight possible! It was amazing! At about 11:00 we finally got back to the dorms. I asked if he could drive me to class, because I had no clue where I was going. He agreed and I went to bed.
The next morning I woke up with a knock on my door. Crap! I overslept! "Hey, are you ready?" Nate said from outside my door. "Almost!" I lied. I threw on the first shirt I found, put on some shorts, threw my hair in a pony, grabbed my bag, and headed out the door. Thank goodness I packed my art bag on the plane.
He greeted me and we hopped in his truck. There was another guy in there already.
"Hi, I'm Julie!" I said trying not to send my nasty breath in his direction. "Hey I'm Matthew, but you can call me Matt." He said in a deep voice. He almost sounded like he was shy but I knew just from the was he looked that he wasn't.
"Anyone have gum?" I asked. "I've got some in the glove compartment. You can have some." said Nate. "Thanks" I replied not knowing what to talk about or how long the drive would be.
"So are you in the art class to?" I asked Matt, he didn't look like the artsy type. "No but this is my truck, so I let Nate borrow it to drive to art then I take it and pick him up later." Matt said seeming a little edgy. "Well thanks for letting Nate drive me!" I said trying to keep a conversation going. "No prob." Matt said in a soft but calm but firm tone. I wanted to learn more about him. It seemed like we could be friends but then again it seemed like he didn't want any. Or maybe he just wants me to shut up.
"We're here!" Nate said like it was a weight off his shoulders to get out of that truck. "Yay!" I said when I really meant , finally!
He walked me in to art then Matt drove away. All I was thinking is I really don't want to be that new kid in art class.
