Everything was blurry. I saw light surrounding me. I blinked my eyes open, but everything was still a bit fuzzy. I looked around. I heard the beeping of a monitor and the smell of rubber and disinfectant spray filled the air. I was in a hospital. I looked at the clock in the room.

10:37 A.M.

I looked down at my body. I had many tubes of different colors sticking in my body. I had a full leg cast on my left leg and many stitches strewn all over my body. There were many ugly, red splotches that colored my skin. My torso was wrapped in a large cloth bandage. I tried moving but found it incredibly hard.

"Hey."

I looked up and saw him leaning up against the wall. Vincent.

"What happened to me?" I whispered since my voice was pretty much gone.

He smiled."You were hit by a car, but I'm gonna leave all the fancy details and explanations to the doctor."

"Why are you here? I thought you hated me."

"I got over it." He shrugged and came over by me.

"How long have you been here?"

"Five days."

"Five days? How long was I out?"

"About two weeks."

"Two weeks?!" I said aloud.

He chuckled. "Well, 12 days to be exact."

I sighed. "You stayed here for five days, though?"

"Yup."

"Why?"

"Well I don't have anything better to do. I'd rather be here than sitting at a restaurant that I hate."

There was a bit of silence.

"You scared me." He paused. "I ran out to the scene to see you laying practically lifeless on the road. I thought you died."

"I thought that was what you wanted?"

"That's what I wanted before I met you."

"What do you mean?"

The doctor walked in with my mom. Vincent stood up and got away from me.

"You're awake." The doctor came by me. "How do you feel?"

"Confused."

She laughed. "You have every right to be confused." She checked my blood pressure.

"Can you tell me what happened to me?"

She was sitting something down on a computer. "You were hit by a car and was in a coma for 12 days. It's quite the miracle that you're not paralyzed or even dead. You fractured your left leg and sprained a few of your ribs. You had some pretty be bruises when you came in and had some deep cuts that needed to be stitched up."

"How did I get hit?"

"The man ran a red light and hit your left side. The police found that the man was quite intoxicated and he was charged with a DUI." She smiled at me. "Does that make you a little less confused?"

"Yeah. Thank you." I smiled back.
