"Yes ... I will." The boy jolts in excitement and shouts so loud that the world could hear him "She said yes!"
I get up and switch off the T.V. thinking about how the movie was one of the cheesiest that I have watched in ages. You see I always had a knack for such movies since ... well you'll see. Don't know why but now they cram me up with a feeling of ecstasy. With a sort of pleasure that one experiences after achieving a purpose in life, the part that brings us happiness is that one of our dreams is completed but what do we pursue now and that's what brings the bitterness to it.
As you have probably wrongly guessed by now thinking that I am a sentimental, romantic and corny guy, one of those types that every girl wants. Well sadly I am or at least was the exact opposite of that guy. I say that because I accept my imperfections, my inadequacies and my shortcomings in life. Yes! I do mean what I said. All these features are something that I lack dearly. I have been going on and on about women, traits, flaws etc. and haven't told you who I am.
I am Liam Levine, 29 years of age. The most decorated architect in WRA New York and the 5-time winner of the best architect in US. I am also the youngest winner of that award and the record holder of most wins. People in my work field call me The Steve Jobs of the architect world. I tend not talk about this, but what I do for a living is an important part of my story. I own an apartment in one of the buildings that I designed; it's just a penthouse.
I was popular at school being the Head Boy of my batch and the same at college being the student body president. People from both my school and university will tell you I was destined for greatness. I believe that greatness comes at a high price, one that no one should ever pay. Its path is filled with loneliness. People only come close to you for your money and nothing else. I learned that the hard way having been rejected after proposing 3 times to 3 different women that I loved. I think that there were some flaws in my method of proposal, that's when I started watching all the romantic movies so I can learn the right way of proposing or should I say the art of proposing.
Now come to think of it, I have no clue what to do with my life now. Ever since I was kid, all I ever wanted was a family of my own that includes a woman that I love, kids, an amazing house and Emma. Emma is the only constant woman in my lonely life. Emma is my pet Turkish cat. I love her dearly, and she probably is the most precious thing in my life right now, after getting rejected the third time.
The bell rings.
I am walking towards the door hoping for her to be there, telling me that she had changed her mind and is taking back all she said earlier. What I would have given for her to be there, just saying three words that everyone deserves in their lives, is beyond the imagination of a man who hasn't loved yet. And that's when my life changed, changed for the better.
