song for the letter:
close as strangers // 5sos
September 21
dear johnny,
i don't know if you would like to know this, but i talked to dakota again. why can't be easy with you?
i don't think you know who dakota is so here's the details about him: i met him when i was in seventh grade and he was in eighth; we met in orchestra class. when the next school year came by, he went to high school and i went to eighth grade and we didn't talk/ text for a while. i did text him happy birthday.
in may, i started texting him again. until june, robin, a friend of yours and a friend of mine, texted him how i, joy, was his girlfriend and such. dakota never texted me back until july and I was happy.
this year, when our freshman year started, i would always see him and think he was ignoring me. truth was, he wasn't and we talked. why can't we be like that, johnny?
i asked my friends if i should walk up to you and just talk and they say: no. he lost you and he needs to find you.
meaning: you were the one who stopped talking to me, so you should talk to me first.my friends always make sure i don't make the first move, but i think their 'rule' is stupid.
ugh, why is it this complicated.
i don't hate you.
sincerely, joy.
