One day after I had finished doing my daily chores, I wondered down by the big oak tree in the middle of our corn field. The bright sun is beaming down onto my golden braided hair. A gentle breeze flows through the hundreds of rows of corn and making my sun dress ripple in the air.

When I finally reach my favorite spot under the tree I sit down and pull out my pocket bible and turn to the beginning of the New Testament. A little while later, an exact amount of time I can not tell, I slowly drifted off to sleep.

When I fell asleep, I had a dream.  A dream about a little girl running, running towards me.  I gasped because I didn't know who she was or why she was coming to me.  When she reached the tree she didn't turn towards me, but instead she went to the side of the tree which is on the other side of where I was sitting.  I stood up quickly, brushing the grass off of my dress, then I walked quietly to the other side of the tree, to where the little girl ran to. But, when I got to the other side I was dumbfounded. There was no little girl at all just a little rabbit hole. Confused I quietly walked back to my spot, sat down and fell asleep.

I woke up a few hours later. The sun is setting up in the horizon, giving off a pink and orange tint throughout the sky. I walked back to my house to where my ma, pa, and siblings were getting ready for supper. While my family was eating I barely nibbled on my food because of the such interesting dream I had only a short while ago.

The next day I rushed through my daily chores nearly slipping into the pig pit and ingesting a mouthful of chicken feed. Although that would usually give me a scare and a wave of disgust, I was not worried about that, but only about getting back to the oak tree.

An hour or so after I settled myself next to the rabbit hole by the oak tree I had made sure that I hadn't fallen asleep. The same girl from my dream the day before came running towards the oak tree again. I was afraid that I would scare her away so I closed my eyes and pretended that I was sleeping. When she had gotten within a few feet of the rabbit hole she looked around then closely at me to make sure I was asleep, so I rested my eyes, but still had them cracked open enough for me to see, and steadied my breathing. After a few minutes when the little girl seemed to trust that no one was looking she wiggled her nose and she began to lose her girl figure and instead took on the figure of a small rabbit. I was amazed at the sight and bit my tongue to see if I had in fact fallen asleep again and was instead in a very real dream. I was sure I was truly awake and the dream I had yesterday was really not a dream but happened in real life. Then, she had slipped into the hole and was gone out of sight. This was astonishing, I needed show someone this little girl.

About three hours have passed and the little girl rabbit hasn't exited the hole yet, but I convinced myself to catch the girl. When I was about to give up and go back to the house I saw a tiny head pop out of the hole. Eager to catch her I untied my apron and through it over her, and scooped her up, making my apron into a sack. I quickly ran back to the house very excited and eager to show that I had caught a little girl that had turned into a little rabbit.

"Ma! Pa! Look what I caught!" I yelled to my parents.

"What did you catch this time Sarah?" My ma responded slightly irritated by the fact that I always come home with a little discovery that I had found when I was out.

"I caught a little girl, but she turned into a rabbit!" I exclaimed.

"Stop with this foolishness and put whatever you have back outside where it belongs." My pa said, catching on that ma was irritated.

"At least let me show you first."

"Fine, but do it quickly because we are greatly busy with harvest approaching quickly." Pa said.

I carefully opened my apron and revealed the wide eyed rabbit that laid within it. "She was a little girl before, but when the wiggled her nose she became a rabbit!"

"Uh, put that scared little thing back outside, and wash up for supper." My pa demanded, probably convinced that I was really psychotic.

"Yes, Pa." I said sadly, sad that they didn't believe me and they wanted me to let her go.

I walked outside with the rabbit still in my apron and came in a few minutes later pretending that I let her go, but I didn't, I wanted to keep her. So, to avoid the attention of my family I crept quietly to my room where I set her in the empty box which was sitting on my chest next to my bed, and quickly setting her into it, putting the cover on and rushed back to the kitchen to eat.

During the night I woke to the sound of the box cover hitting the floor of my bedroom. In the moonlight I could make out the figure if the rabbit jumping out of the box. She then proceeded to wiggle her nose and transformed into a little girl again. Then on her own she pulled herself up onto the window sill, opened the window and she jumped out, where she escaped and I never saw her again.
