Chapter 4

Charlotte's P.O.V.

"We are gonna go to a pizza place now. Do you want to come with us?" Michael asked. I tried to remember if I had any plans. And I didn't. "Yeah sure. If you don't mind." I told him. "Of course we don't that's why we asked you." Calum said. I smiled and we headed down the side walk.

They asked me questions about America. Some things I was able to answer truthfully from when I asked my dad about it, when he actually called. I felt terrible for lying to them, but it it was better for the time being.

After about 20 minutes of walking, we were at the pizza place. We walked in and it was very cute place. We sat at a booth. I tried to not sit next to Ashton but my plan didn't work. It was Ashton, me, and Luke. And on the other side was Calum and Michael. To say it was a little awkward was a serious understatement. Ashton just wouldn't look at me.

We ordered a large cheese pizza and just waited for it to come. "So Charli. Did you have any boyfriends in America?" Luke asked, nudging me. I saw all the boys look at me, including Ashton. I blushed slightly while shaking my head no. "Really? That's pretty weird." Calum said. "Why is that?" I asked. "Cause you are really pretty." Michael told me. "Yeah okay." I laughed. "It's true. You are." Luke said. "Guys. I think she knows what she is talking about when she says she's not." Ashton randomly said.

I turned to him shocked. He smirked at me rudely before I looked down at my lap. It became dead silent at the table. "That was really fucked up, Ash." Michael said, breaking the silence. Ashton just shrugged. The food came out but I had lost my appetite. I knew he was mad at me but I didn't know he hated me that much. You know what who cares. He's just an asshole.

When we were done we all decided to go to Ashton's house. I knew it was going to be awkward but I really wanted to see Anne, Lauren, and Harry.

On the walk home the boys kept moving so Ashton and I would stand next to each other. It didn't work though, Ash kept moving away. I couldn't hide that it bothered me that he won't even walk next to me. I can't believe that I actually lost my best friend.

"Are you gonna cry?" I looked up to see Ash with an annoyed look. I wiped my eyes. "No. Why would I?" "Cause you want people to feel bad about you and your parents." My stomach dropped. He knew. How did he know? "W-What do you mean?" I asked, nervous of the answer. "Cause you guys had to move back here and shit." He told me. Thank god he didn't know. "Oh yeah. Okay." I saw that we were right in front of his house and I walked up to the door.

I knocked and within a 10 seconds the door was opened. "Hello. How can I help you?" Anne asked. "It's me. Charlotte." I said shyly. "Charlotte. I don't know a-" she looked at me again. "Oh my God! Charlotte!" she pulled me into a bone crushing hug. I hugged her back as she pulled me inside. "How have you been?" she smiled. "Okay." I told her. I looked back as I heard the door close and the saw the boys all move to the couch in the living room.

I turned back to Anne and saw worry in her eyes. "How is your mom?" She asked quietly. I shrugged. "And your dad?" "No idea. He only called during the first two months." "Sweetie. I'm so sorry." she hugged me and started to cry. It was kind of awkward but I hugged her back. She pulled away and looked past me. I turned and saw Lauren and Harry.

"Guys. You remember Charlotte." They didn't react. "Ashton's old best friend." Harry quickly connected the dots and ran at me, I picked him up. "Ah. You mean Ashton's old girlfriend." Lauren said before she ran to hug me as well. We stood there for a few minutes until I heard someone clear their throat. I saw The boys looking at us. I let go of the kids and smiled. "Well, I'm gonna head home."  I said, "It's getting late and I didn't tell my mum I was gonna-" Shit. I didn't tell my mum anything. If she's awake she's gonna fucking kill me. "Charli? Are you okay?" Harry asked, pulling me out of my thoughts. I looked at him and nodded. "It was great seeing you guys again. I'll try to visit more." I told the Irwins. I turned to the boys and hugged them all but Ash. I heard his mom whisper-shout at him for not hugging me.

I went outside and saw that it was raining. Shit. And my house is a good half an hour away. I can't walk that far I the rain and not have a coat. I went back inside and everyone stared at me. "Um. I was wondering if I could get a ride home. Cause it's raining and it's a really long walk." I said staring at the ground. "Of course you can get a ride." Anne said. "Ashton bring her home." Like said. "Why me?" he asked. "Just do it." Michael told him. "No." Ash said. "It's okay. Nevermind" I said. "No Ashton is driving you." Anne said and started shoving him to the door. She shoved him too hard and he bumped right into me. "Sorry." he mumbled. "It's okay." I said.

We walked outside and headed for his car. The car ride was insanely awkward. "What is the street?" He asked. "Maple Hill." I told him. He drove on the street and looked at all the houses. I told him the house number and opened the car door. "Thank you." I said. "Your wel-"He was interrupted by the house door slamming. "Where have you been?" I heard my mother scream. She's drunk.

I looked at her and then to Ashton, who just looked confused. "I said where have you been." my mum slurred. " I went over to Ashton's house. I'm sorry I didn't tell you." I said, walking towards her. She grabbed my arm and yanked me into the house. I looked out the window and saw that Ashton's car was driving away. "What are you doing?"  Mum asked, throwing me into the wall. I slide down and covered my face. She kicked me in the stomach and started yelling at me.

Eventually she got bored and left be alone. I got up and went to see how bad the bruises looked. They didn't look too bad, and no one would be able to see them. I was actually really happy when I went to the Irwin's house but now everything just seems pointless. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
