Max gleefully watched me with wide eyes as I opened the last Christmas present. Please be an iPhone please be an iPhone I mentally begged, as my old phone was broken. I quickly tore open the festive wrapping paper, to reveal a fancy bag from the local jewellers.
"Aw babe!" I squealed, reaching across to quickly kiss him. I'm obsessed with jewellery and clearly he picked up on that. I reached inside and pulled out a long, black rectangular box. My face was almost being pulled apart by my smile.
I opened it, but there was no necklace. Instead, there was a small, but beautiful, diamond ring.
"Oh. My. Fucking. God."
Max grinned, and took the ring from my shaky grasp. He didn't go down on one knee, instead he sat where he was in front of me. "Tay Williams, wanna get hitched?"
From his pocket he pulled out two tickets to Italy, and I laughed so hard my stomach ached. "Yes! Let's do it!"
The flight was scheduled for tomorrow so I quickly packed. I didn't have a dress so I decided to just wear my old prom dress. Max didn't have a tux so he called his stepdad and asked him for a loan of his wedding tux, and I could hear him crying from where I stood.
"I think he's proud," I teased.
Max pulled me to him, kissing my hair. "He should be," was his reply.
