The clock was ticking. It wouldn't stop and seemingly speed up as every second passed. My heart helplessly began racing along with the sound and I felt myself fall into the deep trance this caused.
I imagined myself dressed in my usual button down long sleeve attire, my favorite striped black and grey zip-up tie, my black jeans, and my black combat boots. I quite recently became the type who couldn't be bothered by a normal tie. Puzzles like tying fancy knots had became increasingly boring lately.
I am now laying on the face of the clock, waiting, and growing lethargic. With every tick, my entire body would vibrate in such a lullful way that I could barely sustain consciousness.
"What a pointless daydream.", I whispered to myself in an uninterested tone, "Have I lost my imagination so soon? No. I'm still young enough."
A few more seconds into the daydream and I had been interrupted by a voice sounding very close to my ear.
"Why are you always talking to yourself? It's pretty irritating."
"Oh, wow. How interesting that you'd be bothered by me and my habit. You know, seeing as you never speak of anything important.", I couldn't help but be blunt. It's also a habit of mine. I took a deep breath, "In all due respect, leave me alone. You know I don't enjoy being bothered so why waste your time causing trouble?"
I reawakened from my daydream and turned in my desk to face the listener. Jordyne Williams, a low rank cheerleader. In any case, referring to someone in such a way is considered an insult. However, this was simply honesty. She's the type who causes you to picture scenes from old timey movies of "perfect" cheerleaders with "perfect" jocks attached as accessories, fawning over them. Fortunately, this was reality and she was someone who tried to hard to be something she wasn't.
As these thoughts ran though my head, I couldn't help but feel a bit harsh and rude. Thankfully, before I could doubt myself too much, she chimed in again.
"I don't know who you think you are, but everything I say is important.", she took a moment to realize how conceded she made herself sound as nearby students honed in on her statement,"I meant, um- You know what I meant! What's important to me may not be important to you. Yeah, that's what I was trying to say."
I looked at her dead on with my often displayed poker face.
"You're correct."
"What?", she made puzzled expression.
"Anything you have to say is unimportant to me."
Just then, my subconscious torture ended with the ring of the bell that signalled dismissal. As everyone else struggled to shove their items into bags, I swiftly swung mine on and made a beeline for the door.
As usual, I was the only person in the hallway up until I reached the exit. Almost simultaneously, the class doors of other classes flew open as the door closed behind me.
Hiding my euphoria for pulling this perfect timing off an entire three weeks in a row, I strutted my way through the bus lanes. They were still empty, excluding the buses of course.
As usual, I walked between buses #1 and #2 to head towards the street before any of the buses made it out of the parking lots. Since I'm considered a complete misanthrope, by myself and others, I tend not to enjoy the company of people. I've managed to strategically organize my life to where there's as minimal social activity as possible. Thankfully.
With the school day finally over, I slid my phone out of my pocket with my right hand, typing in my thirty-three digit password. Usually, I would only have to use face recognition, but I can only do that after I type the password in atleast twenty-four hours in advance. I hadn't unlocked my phone today up until now.
