Chapter 15: A Pep Talk With Link

-One week later-
I sit on the couch with a big bowl of potaote chips in my lap. With the remote on hand, I flip through the channels, nothing good was on."Rhett,I'm boored." I playfully said.

Rhett sat at the table with his laptop."Okay, find something else to do." I got up and went over to the table. I looked over Rhett's shoulder to see what he was working on."Rachel can you not watch over me please? " he begged.

I was a little taken back."Okay." I said and backed away. I walked over and grabed the guitar. I prepped myslef to play but I didn't even get to strum one note.

"Rachel, I don't want you playing the guitar right now.I have a headache." he begged.

I rolled my eyes but I put the guitar down. What was up with Rhett today? I go back to my bowl of chips and I realize I was about empty. I go to the kitchen and go through the pantry making quite a bit of noise. "God do you ever stop eating?" Rhett rudely asked in the other room.

"I'm a teenager Rhett.What did you expect?" I fired back. I walked back out to the living room with a new fresh bowl of chips in my hand. Being the fabulous person I am, I trip on air and spill my chips everywhere.

"Ow!" I exclaim when I hit the floor and landed on my butt.

Rhett was imeddiatiy alarmed and he got up from his computer. His face wasn't happy when he saw the mess I had made."Look at this mess!" he shouted."Why can't you not go and be quite when I'm working!"

I was still on the floor. I glared at Rhett has I helped myself up."Yeah Rhett, I'm okay, thanks for asking!" I said scarasticly.

I brushed the crumbs off me and walked out the door."Rachel-" That was all I heard before slamming the door behind me.

I walked down the street, I needed to be somewhere else. Link's house wasn't far from Rhett's so that were I let my feet carry me.

I walked up to the door and rang the door bell. Link answered."Hey Rachel, what are you doing here?"

"Can I come in?" I ask

"Of course!" Link let me inside.
This was actually the first time I had ever been in Link's house. It looked very similar to Rhetts only just a little bit smaller."Here have a seat." Link juesterd to the couch. I take a seat and Link comes an joins me."So, Rachel, what's going on."

"It's Rhett." I say.

"Did you guys get into a fight or something?" Link asked. He scooted in closer so he could hear more on what I had to say.

"Well,sorta, he was getting frustrated with every little thing I did. Then, when I spilled some potatoe chips on accident he just got so angry at me," I felt the tears coming"I hate to say it but when he did that it reminded me how my mom use to treat me." Tear were falling and Link wrapped his arms around me.

"I'm sorry Rachel."

"And I came here so I could just get away for awhile." I managed to say to Link through my tears.

"Shhhh. It's okay." Link whispered.

We sat there for a good five mintues has I cried in Links arms.When I finally was able to regain myself I pulled away from Link.

"Thank you Link.I needed that." I said and sighed in relief.

"I want to tell you something," he wiped one last tear away,"Something I want you to think about."

"What's that?" I asked him curiously.

"People, get frustrated for sometimes no good reason. We have to understand that no one is perfect. Rhett is by no means perfect, he has never had a child to look after, let alone by himself."

I sat there and processed with what Link just told me. He wasn't wrong."I guess I never really thought about that." I admitted to Link.

Link patted me on the back,"You are a good kid Rachel."

I said my goodbyes to Link and went back to Rhett's place. I opened the door, the mess was cleaned up and Rhett was nowhere to be found. I closed the door behind me. Only then, I was slammed with a hug."Oh Rachel I was so worried about you!" Rhett said and hugged me tighter.

"I'm sorry Rhett." That was all I could say.

"Oh, my sweet child." He got down to my level so he could look me in the eyes,"It is me who should be sorry. I yelled at you for no reason and when I did I felt so guilty."

"I forgive you Rhett.It know you aren't perfect and neither am I. We may have bumps in our relationship but I know we will pull through them." I pointed out.

Rhett smiled."When did you get so smart."

I laughed and pulled Rhett into a hug."I love you Uncle Rhett." I said passionately.

"I love you too my princess." He responeded.

A/N Whew! Okay I'm glad I wrote this chapter because now I feel the story will flow much better! Just so you know....We are almost reaching the climatic point of our story people so hold on to your cookies!! XD
