Is it weird that I find the smell of smoke relaxing?Campfire smoke: it's earthy, gives off that scent of adventure and company. Memories of laughter while playing card games with the sun still high in the sky. Reading an old used paperback book until the sunlight no longer can support my eyes. Telling stories with the light from the fire flickering on familiar faces. Going to sleep with the smell of old burnt cedar trees stamped into my clothes.
Forest fire smoke: I can't smell it from where I live but I can definitely see it. It's like a gloomy day, all cloudy and cold; minus the cold. It's burning hot and there's no where for the heat to go. It's suffocating, holding you down, and I find relief in that because for once in my life I know that everyone else is suffocating too.
Garbage smoke: it's not good for my health, no where near it. Plastic burning and giving off chemicals that kill; health inspectors would be freaking out but we don't mind.
The ample feeling when I light the match on top of a slip of paper, to see the barrel burst into flames leaving ashes behind in memory of the discarded items.Ashes, ashes we all fall down.
