Hey guys! This is my first story. This is also the first time going public with one of my stories. I have when I read a story and they have more authors notes than chapters so im hoping that this will be my only one. I'm also writing this on my phone at random times. please forgive me for my grammer and spelling mistakes I also have a hard time transfering the stories I have in my head down in writing. I also get annoyed when authors say they aren't going to upload unless they get a certain amount of votes and comments. It would be nice to hear positive feed back and hear your take on my writing. Please enjoy! Ciao!

"Oh my god Vinny! Just answer your god damn phone! It's been going off for the past hour! I don't understand why you just don't turn it off when you are with me." Veronica hissed a crossed the table.
I groaned and reached in my coat pocket for my phone. My heart sped up as my fingers lightly glided over the velvet box. One night...just one fucking night I just wanted it to be perfect. Where is this damn phone? Reaching further into my pocket I finally got a hold of it. It started to vibrate again. The screen lit up "LIL SIS" this should be good.
" Sammie?" I risked a glance at Veronica only to be met with a glare.
"Sammie? Since when did I became Sammie to you?" Guilt instantly washed over me. I have never called her Sammie.
"Sammie I'm sorry its just-"
" Forget it! We have been trying to get a hold of you for the past three hours! Why haven't you been answering your phone?"
"I'm busy having dinner with Veronica I asked the boys and told Scottie to only call me if it's an emergency. "
"I get that asshole! What do you think this is! Scottie was in a car accident and is in surgery at OHSU" she yelled right before breaking down in to a sob and hanging up. Looking down at the screen 27 missed calls! I scroll down the text messages saying the same thing. Fuck!
"Babe we gotta go! Get up let's go!" Pulling bills out that would cover our dinner I headed out. I turned to grab Veronica's hand heading to the valet and notice she hasn't gotten up from her seat. I stalk towards her I don't have time for her temper tantrum. " Come on! We have to go! " Reaching for her hand she pulls always and crosses them across her chest. I really don't have time for this!
"Why are we leaving? Why did Sammie call?" He tone high pitched and whinny.
"She called because Scottie was in a car accident and is in surgery. Now get up let's go! I need to get to her and the kids!" I yanked one of her arms and all but dragged her out of the restaurant.
"Ughhhh leave it to her to try and ruin our dinner and your proposal!"
I abruptly stopped and handed the valet my ticket. Turning around I looked at her with my arms crossed and asked how she knew I was going to propose. Shifting on her feet and looking anywhere but me she finally blows a breath out. " I found it in your desk last week. When I saw that you made reservations to my favorite restaurant I just knew." She had started walking up to me rubbing her hands up and down my tie. Before I can ask her what she was doing going through my desk our car pulled up.
The car ride to the hospital felt like the longest and slowest ride of my life. I barely pay attention to Veronicas hand rubbing up and down my thighs. My focus was on Scottie and our kids. I can't lose Scottie. We might be in a the middle of a divorce but she is still the mother of my kids. She has been my best friends since we were five. I don't know life without Scottie or Sammie for that matter. Sammie was two years younger but we never did anything without her. I lost Sammie the minute I asked Scottie for a divorce. They were the only family I ever knew.
Pulling into the parking lot I can't help but think the worst. I could never say goodbye to Scottie. She is the only girl I have ever loved and will ever truly love...wait what?
Rushing through the double doors I feel my heart drop. In the corner of the ER I see someone in their marine uniform hunched over. I don't believe in coincidences. With his elbows resting on his knees, he had his head down rubbing his buzz cut. He must sense me walking towards him because he lifts his head and stands and looks me in the eye. His usually tan face, has been drained of its color. The brownish/ green eyes that are identical to his twin are cold and dead. Dark bags have already started to form around his red rimmed eyes. His eyes flicker to Veronica and the travel down and narrow at our hands intertwined.
" Well Vincent you look like you're doing well..." he said disguised. His message came loud and clear. Brodan was never really my biggest fan since high school. Bringing Veronica with me was not helping the situation. At the moment I didn't care I needed to see Scottie.
" Not no Bro. Where is Scottie?" Getting irritated because Bro would try and pick a fight with me at this time.
" I hope you know the only reason I'm not trying to kill you is because the kids need you. " I don't doubt that one bit. It's been years since I've seen him. With everything going on with Scottie and our divorce I'm sure he has some rage building up. Turning his attention to Veronica giving her a hard glare he asked " What are you doing here? Are you here as an old concern friend or a home wrecker?"
" If Scottie knew how to keep her man happy, I wouldn't have to do it for her."
"Enough! This is not the time or the place for this! Where is Scottie and the kids?"
" They just brought her into the ICU follow me." Bro turned on his heel and walk toward the elevators. When he was out of hearing range I turned to face Veronica to only catch her smirking. As soon as her attention is one me her smirk instantly disappears. I'm starting to get the feeling something wasn't right.
"I understand out date night got interrupted, but this is my family and i need to be there for them. Whether you like it or not I still love Scottie and she means a lot to me. You guys were once best friends. So can you please show some respect and just keep your mouth shut. That comment was unnecessary. Bro and I might not see eye to eye but his sister that he loves more than anything is barely hanging on. So if you can stand by my side and just support our family during this time I suggest you leave and I will call you when I feel that everything will be ok"
"Baby I will do whatever you want me too!"
I groaned, I feel like this is going to be a mistake to have here. We get into the elevator with Bro. Then I realized I don't even know what happened. As we step out of the elevator I grab Bro's arm and ask if he has a min. I didn't want to walk into the waiting room not knowing anything.
"Bro, I need you to tell me what happened. Sammie just said she was in a car accident. I don't know anything else." Bro was never one to beat around the bush. When he starts to shift on his feet and rub the back of his neck I know something is wrong. Scottie is laying there fighting for her life and I can help but notice a familiar feeling of jealousy come over me. Was she on a date? Is she seeing someone new? The past couple of times I have seen her she has been in a good mood and seemed to be happy. Is she really over me and letting me go?
"Well actually she was leaving this hospital. From what I hear she got dizzy and passed out. Her SUV flipped over the guard rail and rolled down the embankment. Thank god she was so close that they could get to her right away. They had trouble getting her stable because of her issues. When they finally did they brought her up here. An hour later she was back in surgery because of her bleeding. Right before Sammie sent me down to wait for you she was in a coma and now we are just playing the waiting game with her."
"What issues does she have? I started getting calls two hours ago. Its midnight! Who has appointments this late?" Thinks weren't adding up.
" I think its best you talk to the docs and your kids." He walks away into the waiting room. I'm finally aware of Veronica, looking down at her picking her nails. Can she be anymore less sensitive?
I walked into the small waiting room. Empty. Where is everyone? I walk in and notice the signs for private rooms. Getting towards the third door that read DeLuca. She still keeps my last name?
" She just can't let you go huh? It's been a year for gods sakes. I am not going to be share being Mrs. DeLuca with Scottie!" Ignoring her jabs I slowly open the door. I wasnt prepared for what was waiting for me.
