Bella sat in her room, writing in her diary and smiling to herself for the first time in a long time.
Dear Diary,
Stefan can try to protect me all he wants, but I'm going to see Jeremy again today. He wants me to stay home after the whole thing with Damon at the party. He says it's not safe for me - that Damon's up to something. But I just want to see Jeremy. He's so sweet and funny and unlike anyone I've ever met before. I really think it's different this time. I really think he likes me and I think I'm falling for him. It's so soon, I know, but I've just got a good feeling about him.Just outside, Jeremy fixed his wrinkled tee-shirt and anxiously knocked on the door to the Salvatore boarding house.
Stefan answered, with an agitated look, "Yes?"
"Is Bella home? Is she okay? I've been stopping by all weekend but no one's been opening the door-"
"She's fine," Stefan cut him off, closing the door, "She's not going to school today, she'll see you tomorrow."
Jeremy groaned and began walking away, looking up at the window he saw Bella's outline through. He tossed a pebble up to get her attention. She turned around and waved, smiling sadly. He waved back. He'd see her tonight, he would.
Bella hung out at home, reading and writing in her diary. When that began to bore her, she turned to the television to entertain her.
"Hmm, girl loves vampire, werewolf loves girl," she mumbled to herself, "Sounds okay."
And an hour or so later...
"Noooooo, Bella!" Bella sobbed, throwing her pillow at the television, "You fucking idiot!"
It was the scene where Bella Swan, the protagonist, separates from her vampire boyfriend's family to take on the villain alone. A measly human against a vampire. Bella scoffed at the thought.
"Fuck you, Bella, fuck you! Edward would've taken this asshole down in two seconds! You stupid bitch!"
"Aww, don't call yourself that," Damon's jeering voice came from the hallway.
"Fuck you!"
After getting through the first film, she was interrupted by Stefan barged into her room as she was about to start the second, "Sup, Stef?"
He glanced at the TV with a raised brow, "What the hell are you watching?"
"Nothing," she snapped, hitting the off switch, "What's going on?
"We have to go to the hospital."
"Why? What happened?"
"The girl's awake. We have to take care of Damon's mess," he sighed, "Again."
Bella chuckled, "Whatever you say, brother."
"You're gonna have to get Matt to leave the room. Distract him."
"Want me to use my smokin' hot bod?" she joked, earning a sharp glare from her brother, "Okay, sorry. Not funny."
Once the siblings reached the hospital, Stefan compelled the nurse into revealing what room Vicki was in. Bella had the common sense to make her forget she ever revealed that - something Stefan often forgot to do. They listened in on Matt and Vicki's conversation. Vicki seemed to be fighting Matt off and probably believed he was Damon. Matt left the room to get a doctor, giving Stefan a good window of opportunity to enter the room.
When Matt saw Bella, he immediately ran over, "Hey! You okay? You weren't at school today. I texted you a few times. We were so worried-"
"I'm fine!" Bella interrupted chirpily and smiled, "Just wanted to check on your sister. I found her before I was knocked out."
