Chapter 13: Alcohol and Pills

*Highschool*

(Daniel's p.o.v.)

Beep beep beep

I was startled by my alarm going off. I groaned and rolled over onto the other side of the bed. Mind you, my bed was freaking queen sized.

Beep beep beep

Daniel that's it! It's your first day of Highschool and you cannot miss it. I swiped my finger gently across my iPhone screen to turn off the my alarm. The first thing I did was look in the mirror and I noticed I had a greasy face and hair. I guess this is what happens when you binge watch movies and TV shows on Netflix. I washed my face thoroughly and applied cream to make it nice and smooth. The toothbrush's bristles were spread ,so I sneaked into my parents bathroom and took an extra toothbrush from the cabinet and ran back to brush my teeth. I stripped out of my pyjamas a.k.a boxer shorts. Quickly, I took a shower and washed my hair then blow dryer it. I brushed it and did my everyday quiff. I heard my bus pull over outside ,so I snatched my bookbag which contained everything I needed, and I ran out the door. There was no time for breakfast... I'll wait until lunch if I can handle it. I paid the bus driver and searched for an empty seat. "Over Here!" I heard a voice whisper/yell coming from the last row. I walked towards those seats and saw karri. I happily sat down next to her and we started talking and giggling the whole ride ,but there was one word I tried avoiding to hear. "How's Joey?", she asked curiously. " fine...I guess" how does she not know by now that we don't speak. "We don't speak anymore though" , I added truthfully. "Oh" was the last thing she said until we arrived at school and everyone was off the bus. I was all alone and it is kind of strange not having Joey or Brittany walk up to me and start hugging me. Instead, from the corner of my eye I saw a beautiful girl walking up to me with bright red lip stick and perfect black wavy hair. "Erm...Hi" She said shyly. I snapped out of it and replied, "oh um hello there uh...?".

" Colleen...I'm new here, nice to meet you!", she introduced herself and so did I. "I'm Daniel, I've been here since middle school, nice to meet you too!". We got to know each other for a little before it was time to get our schedules. It so happens she does videos on YouTube, where she does vlogs, challenges, collabs and more. She has her main channel which consists about mainly vlogs and we also have her other account where she plays the role of Miranda Sings, a comedian who does silly jokes and speaks gibberish to her viewers to make them laugh. Suddenly, I heard the Bell ring and Colleen and I sprinted across the hallway to get to the Office. Thankfully, we made it in time to get our schedules and not me late to class. My homeroom was with a teacher called mrs. Hart (Mamrie by the way). I sat on a free chair next to this quiet kid named Kyle who is openly gay and goes out with an attractive guy named Dalton. The teacher introduced herself and after that it was time to meet my period 1-7 teachers. I went to each and everyone of my classes ,but only one. I need to go into my last period. I walked down the hallway trying to find room 217 until I saw the number on a door. I walked into my English class and recognized the same people from my favorite class in middle School. The door randomly shuts and half of the people in class worriedly yelled, "JOEY!" and ran up to him and gave him a bear hug. Britanny kissed him on the cheek and a single teardrop slid down his cheek. What happened to him,oh no what did I miss...oh wait...of course I missed everything.

*lunch*

I saw Brittany in line to get her lunch ,so I waited then grabbed her arm and pulled her towards me. I whisper/screamed to her very quickly, "What the hell happened to Joey?" I asked curiously. "Oh... So you know Joey's mom is an alcoholic?". Yeah, Joey has spoken about that before, " yes".

She sighed and said, "well, she had been so smashed one day that she overdosed on pills while drinking liquor and failed walking down the stairs and had a concussion which caused her to have a small memory loss. Now, she is still in the hospital until she has a full recovery and gets a full treatment in rehab". Poor Joey I feel so bad for him. If I could only speak to him and tell him how sorry I am about this situation.

This year I started taking the bus so, I was struggling. I finally found my morning bus driver and got on. I sat in the third row while high schoolers filled up the seats and we were ready to go. " Daniel!" I heard a fairly recognizable voice come from behind. I turned around and saw Colleen. "Hey!", she spoke for a while more until the bus dropped me off. When I got home the first thing I did was run into my room. throw my bookbag to the other side of the room then on my comfortable beanbag chair and started continued watching Lost. I usually go on the internet to make up for all the lack of social life.
