She's so Out of Reach

Chapter One - Oh boy..

- Chapter One -

Ah school, the sweet smell of a flawed education system and high stress levels.

It's Monday. A school day. Can't wait to spend a whole dreadful day at school again. School just started last week and they've already given us tons of work to do. I only had 6 hours of sleep last night since I did my schoolworks, watched 3 Supernatural episodes on my laptop and decided to sleep 2 in the morning. I regret nothing but doing it on a Sunday. With lesser sleep, the more reasons I have to hate everything.

What a great way to start off the 2nd week of my senior year.

"Hey Reese, your looking fine on a lovely monday." Dev mocked. I narrowed my eyes on him and he chuckled.

Dev's my bestfriend since my childhood days. My mum's friends with his mum and he always hangs out at our house every weekends that's how me and Dev became close. We grew up together, done a lot of trouble together and since then we've always got each other's back. He knew me a lot better than anyone else. He's kinda like my long lost brother, an older brother I never had, but more annoying.

"How you doing?" He asked.

"Never been better" I said sarcastically.

I headed through the crowded hallways towards my locker to get my things for my first class and Dev followed me. I am clearly not one to socialize on Monday mornings. I'd rather sleep for 12 straight hours than to be here, but basically I don't have a choice so..

"Sleep Deprived, I see." Zeke interrupted.  

Meet Zeke, Dev's other bestfriend who I instantly became close with. How we became best of friends? I have no clue. All I know is I met him through Dev when we were in middleschool together. Arrogant was my first impression of Zeke, but when I got to know him more.. He really was and still arrogant as ever. Even though I find it quite irritating being him all arrogant, we still became close. Probably because he's quite fun to be with and he's friends with Dev.

Since then we had this little 'group' that bonded naturally. We pranked teachers and only got in trouble once. (We're just that good) Too bad the teacher saw the eraser and markers we taped up on the ceiling. His face was priceless.

I closed my locker and faced Zeke. "Way to state the obvious, genius." I said face deadpanned.

Dev laughed and Zeke made a face. Great, they're being annoying again. If I didn't know them better, I'd probably hit them with each other's head by now. 

"Jeez, Ree. Don't take your hatred for Monday mornings and pour it on us." Zeke huffed.

"Yeah, we're your friends. We have feelings too." Dev added pouting and trying to put on a sad face.

"Then you both try to be not annoying for once" I said.

"Never gonna happen" Zeke smirked

"Give me one good reason why" I said rolling my eyes.

"Well, since we're bestfriends, it's our job to annoy you" Dev smirked mischievously.

"Hmm, point taken" I said. "You guys are already annoying even without trying"

"Yeah, you should get used to it by now" Dev chuckled and ruffled my hair.

We heard the bell rang, signal to go to our first classes. Thankfully, I have my first class with Dev which is History but Zeke has Math as his first. Sucks for him.

"We better get going, later Zeke" Dev said.

"Later bro and half bro" Zeke teased. I punched him playfully on the arm.

We headed to our designated classes. I sat on the middle while Dev sat at the back of me. The teacher isn't there yet so we could pretty much do anything while he's not yet around. Me and Dev talked for a little while then our teacher came minutes later. 

"Alright class, settle down now" Mr. C said waiting for the class to pay attention.

"Sorry for being late, the principal called me in the office a moment ago" He said smiling. He's always one happy guy.

"It seems like you guys are having a new classmate!" He said cheerfully.

"Who is it?" An irritating voice asked, the blonde girl who I think everyone hates, Christy.

This ill-breeding flirt-gill (shakespeare insult) is popular. She's just like one of those popular girls in Mean Girls. Everyone in school knows her name. Probably because the reason she's a *insert offensive word here* *lady dog*. And her ex is the most popular guy in school, Max. It's clearly obvious why Max broke up with her. 

"Well here he is" He smiled and someone entered the room.

I didn't pay much attention to the new kid because I find playing with my pen more interesting than that someone. I broke my attention to the pen when Dev started poking me. 

"What?" I asked him looking bored.

"Hey is that-" Dev whispered not catching some of what he had just said because of some girls squealing. Talk about annoying..

"Hi"

That voice sounds familiar.. 

I turned myself in front to see who the familiar new kid is and I saw him..

The brown hair and crooked smile that I thought I already forgot..

But now is right in front of me..

Oh crap.

No.

This isn't happening.
