After my failure in training yesterday, I decide some rest is in order. It's my day off today so I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling.

I want to be an exorcist, but the way things went yesterday...I think it's going to be harder than I anticipated. I think about Yukio, how he's so young and yet he's already one of the best. I think about the demon I fought yesterday and I had to be saved by my classmate. I think about how the others avoided my eyes when it was all over. I sigh. My mind jumps to Rin, his attempt to save me and how he's supposed to look out for me for the next week. He seems so carefree and kind, a stark contrast from the others, who won't even look at me now. I bet they think I'm useless and weak. I hate myself for thinking this. I am not weak!

"Hey! (Y/N)! You up there?" I hear a shout from outside my window. I open it to see Rin standing below grinning intently at me. I rub my eyes,  the sun is so bright today.
"Hey! What's up?" I call down to him. He laughs a little.
"I was wondering, do ya wanna hang out today? I can show you around or something." He offers. I nod in reply.
"I'll be down in a second! Wait right there!"

I change my clothes and run downstairs to Rin. He notices me and I see his cheeks turn a little red.
"You look awesome. I mean, uh-" He mumbles. "You hungry?" We make our way to one of the many restaurants on campus. They have all kinds of food from all around the world here! I decide to try some 'Spaghetti' that has been freshly cooked by Italian chefs here at true cross. Rin decides to try 'Pizza'. The food is delicious and judging from Rin's face, his tastes good too.

After lunch, we head out to take a look around the school. The classrooms are huge, the staircases grand and the chandelier in the entrance to the main building is magnificent. The views are spectacular too, you can see out across the ocean that surrounds the place. It glitters in the sun, reflected in my eyes. I notice Rin staring at me out of the corner of my eye. He looks away when he realizes that I've noticed. I laugh to myself.

As the sun goes down, we walk along the wall beside the water.
"Hey, (Y/N), why did you decide to become an exorcist?" He inquires, I reflexively fold my arms across y chest. I've never enjoyed talking about it, and I never will. I try to avoid the question.
"Well, you know, uh, to kill demons. Of course..." I stutter. "I just, you know, wanna help people..."
I don't think he bought it, but he doesn't press the matter further.
"Why'd you, you know, want to become an exorcist?" I ask, trying to shift the subject away from me.
"Satan killed my father." His toned has suddenly changed, he sounds so serious now. "I'll never forgive him for that. I'm going to slaughter that Demon King." He clenches his fist in anger and bares his teeth. "I didn't mean to-"
"No, it's okay. It's getting late, we should head back to our dorms."
"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow."

And with that we turned our backs and walked in opposite directions.

But I know that we're walking the same path.
