Starkit POV
"What do we do now, Bravekit...?" Littlekit asked, her voice cracking,
The seven kits stared at the huge strip of grey rock in front of them.
Dead rabbits and squirrels littered the ground, all flattened.
Starkit's eyes widdened, disgusted and frightened by the scene in front of her.
"I-I think this is where monsters go on," Bubblekit stuttered "I heard Silverstar talking about it after Stoneclaw died and-"
A tiny black speck began to come closer at a terrifying speed and Starkit froze.
"Bravekit, is that one of those monsters you were talking about...?"
Bravekit stared, wide eyed, and screeched," get back, its coming! If that thing hits us, we're dead!!"
Starkit jumped back and ran for the safety of the bushes behind her, until she saw Littlekit.
She was still standing there, staring at the monster that was seconds away from reaching her.
Starkit reached forward and grabbed Littlekit by the scruff, pulling her back, just as the monster sped by.
Starkit shut her eyes as tight as she could, her fur bristling.
The roaring sound died away, and Starkit tentetively looked around.
Bravekit, Beekit, and Nightkit lay in the bush beside hers.
Bubblekit and Littlekit were right next to her.
Everyone was here... except for Mudkit.
Starkit panicked, she couldn't lose her only sister!
"Mudkit, Mudkit where are you?" she yowled as loud as she could.
"I'm right behind you, mouse-brain," her sister replied.
Mudkit's brown fur was sticking up at odd angles and twigs and leaves were caught in her fur.
Starkit breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hurry up, you two, we're leaving now," Bubblekit called impatiently.
The two she-kits got up and padded towards the others.
"Thanks for saving me, Starkit. I probably would've been roadkill if it wasn't for you." Littlekit whispered gratefully.
Starkit smiled back at her."No problem, isn't that what friends are for? Now, let's keep going!"
"Ouch!" Mudkit yelped as she held her paw up.
A tiny thorn was caught in the middle and all the kits laughed.
Starkit helped get the thorn out and they continued on their way.
"Look guys, we're finally here!!" Bravekit exclaimed.
Starkit poked her head through the thorn bush in front of her.
The other kits hurried to get a look too and were pushing eachother around.
Littlekit pushed Bubblekit a bit too hard and he crashed into the open, right infront of a suprised tom.
They all rushed to help him but stopped once they saw the black apprentice looming over them.
"Where are you from kits, and why are you at the gathering?!"
Starkit snarled at him. "For your information, my name is St-Starcloud
and these guys are Bubblepaw, Bravepaw, Rabbitpaw, Mudpaw, Littlekit-er Littlepaw, and Beepaw.
The tom just looked amused.
"Well my name is Shadepaw and I'm from Lightclan. You're all from Dustclan, right?" "Your obviously little kits. Like you could fool me." he laughed.
Starkit froze, wondering how this cat figured it out. "Mouse brain!"she snarled silently, "couldn't I make a better excuse?'
She opened her mouth"Well, how do y-"
'Let the gathering begin!" A large brown tom yowled from a giant rubble of rocks.
"You probably don't know all the clan leaders, so I'll tell you now. That brown tom is Thornstar, the leader of my clan," he whispered with a hint of disgust. "The white tom is the leader of Rainclan, Cloudstar, and then there's Silverstar."
Starkit didn't know why Shadepaw seemed to hate his leader so much but she pushed the thought away.
"Lightclan has five new apprentices with us, Shadepaw, Pinepaw, Mistpaw, Leafpaw, and Rockpaw. Also, one of our warriors have dissapeared five days ago, Blizzardwing, and we are wondering if any of the other clans have seen her. That is all for Lightclan."
Shadepaw and four other apprentices stood up proudly and puffed out their chests.
Cloudstar stepped up. "We have one new warrior, Dewspot. We also mourn the death of one of our elders, Tawnyfoot. And no, Thornstar, we have not seen Blizzardwing."
Now it was Silverstar's turn.
"We have a missing warrior too, Cinderoak also dissappeared five days ago. We also have two new apprentices, Cavepaw and Mintpaw. That is all."
"Wait, Silverstar, you forgot about this warrior and these apprentices!" Shadepaw called out.
"What? There are no other new warriors or appre-"
Starkit winced as Silverstar's burning gaze landed on her.
"Why are you kits here?" she asked in a dangerous voice "Amberpelt, Patchtail, Cavepaw, Lionspot, Birdpelt, pick up these kits, I will deal with them when we get back to camp. Thank you Shadepaw, for noticing them. This gathering is over."
Shadepaw stared mockingly at Starkit as she was carried away by her father.
She glared back at him and then turned away.
---------------------------------------------
By the time they reached camp Starkit could barely keep her eyes open.
She and the other kits were left in the nursury and Starkit sighed with relief that she would not get in trouble.
No such luck.
