"You look perfect ok? Now get it the car!" Nicole was already in the driver seat, trying to convince me for the fourth time that night that i looked okay for the party tonight.
"It's not that. I know I look perfect-" Nicole rolled her eyes, and I ignored her. "-But are you sure this isn't giving off the wrong vibe? I dont want guys smelling of vodka all over me."
"Vibes? Who says that anymore? And Nat, you could be wearing a tee and jeans, and guys would still drool over you."
I stared at her long and hard.
"Get in! Or I'm going without you."
I got in the car and shut the door behind me. The AC was blasting out, a great contrast to the summer heat outside.
I turned up the volume of the radio. Forget you, Cee Lo Green, was on, and I started singing at the top of my lungs, just to annoy Nicole.
After several failed attempts to shut me up, she started singing along. After the song was over, she changed the station, and starting belting Lady Gaga. My turn to shut her up.
We pulled up in front of a house, or rather, a mansion. There were many silouhettes (spelling?) moving to the beat of the music, which we could hear from out here.
We got out of Nicole's black Mercedes, and walked up to the front door.
"Hey. Glad you could make it." Some guy from our school welcomed us in. By the way he walked, and talked, and slapped Nicole's ass, you could tell he was drunk already. This was exactly why I hated these house parties.
I walked over to the punch table, and took a glass. One sip, and I threw it down the trash. That thing was infected with beer.
Guys were eyeing me everywhere, but they knew not to get too close. Well, the sober ones knew. They knew what I would do to them.
"Nat! Over here!"
I walked over to where Nicole and some other friends from school were dancing.
"Why aren't you on the dance floor?" A girl named Kaylee asked, giggling.
"Because I'm not drunk." I replied. Kaylee giggled again.
"Come on!"
She dragged me out onto the floor of the living room with the furniture pushed to the sides.
She started dancing wildly, and reluctantly I started to dance. Not too much though. Just a little.
Kaylee handed me a cup of punch, I drained it down, forgetting my previous glass.
I started dancing with boys, shifting every minute, always a hot guy two steps away. My hands rose higher, my hips shook harder, my legs moved faster.
Maybe it was the punch, but I was having fun. I was drunk.
After two more glasses of the disgusting punch, I was in the bathroom, retching over a toilet.
I flushed, rinsed, and washed my hands.
Slowly I sobered up. Dancing less and less, moving slower and slower.
By the time my mind had cleared up enough to think, Nicole was having her ninth glass of punch.
"Enough is enough!" I scolded her, holding back her hair while she threw up.
Finally she was all cleaned up.
"Why you gotta be such, a party pooper???" she whined. "I was having fun!"
"Yeah, well, we're going home."
"No. I'm staying here." her words slurred into each other.
"Nicole." I hardened my grip on her arm.
"Ten more minutes." she said.
"Five."
"Fine." I watched her walk out and followed, choosing a seat where I had a good view of her.
She was getting wild. Maybe I'd just get her home now.
A cute guy walked up to me, with two glasses of that stupid punch.
"Oh, no, I've had enough." I said, when he tried to hand me one.
He set it on the table beside me, and walked away. Weird.
I looked at the cup, and on the bottom, there was a little note in scrawny letters.
Three minutes. Get out.
OGT seven.
I understood perfectly.
I ripped the paper into shreds, and tossed it into the trash. Walking to the bathroom, I dropped a timed bomb in the toilet. There would be a mini explosion in two minutes and forty five seconds, just big enough to cause a commotion, telling whoever else was here with us to get out.
Fifteen seconds later, the house would come down.
I worked my way through the thick crowd on the 'dance floor' and found Nicole.
"Come on. We have to give up. Now." I didn't listen to her cries of protest as I dragged her out of the crowd.
"Let me gooooo." she whined.
I pulled her towards the door. Man she could kick when she was mad.
I tightened my grip and didn't loosen up until we were outside.
I fished her pockets for her keys, and started the car.
"Get in."
"No." she pouted.
"Get. In."
"No!"
"Dammit! get in the effin car!"
Nicole slowly obliged, sliding into the passenger seat.
"Buckle up." I muttered.
From behind us, gunfire rang out, and screams erupted everywhere. The first explosion had gone off.
I peeled out of the driveway, and took a glance in the rearview mirror.
Thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, I looked away. No need to see that.
"Ooh. Cool." Nicole's face was pressed into the window, watching the spectacle of fire behind us.
I turned, and the flames disappeared.
I drove quickly, with no problem. There aren't that many people out at two in the morning here.
I swerved in and out of the other lane, even when I wasn't supposed to. I had to get as far away as I could.
I pulled a sharp left with signaling, stopping whatever traffic there was, and causing many of the cars to honk many times.
I pulled in in front of our house, and took a deep breath.
Nicole, next to me, giggled. "Let's do that again!"
