Chapter five

Enjoy!!

~~~
I sped out ninety miles per hour.
Twenty minutes away from OGT some semi had run off the road. It would take forty-five minutes, maybe more, before I could get there.
I slammed my hand on the steering wheel.
I was so so stupid. How did Banks escape? It wasn't possible.
Unless, unless, unless he had jumped.
Damn. Why hadn't I thought of that?
I looked in my rearview mirror, and took a deep breath.
I grabbed my handbag and got out of the car. I looked around, realizing I wasn't the only one on the road. May other people were out trying to catch some look at the damage. I would blend in perfectly.
I sprinted in-between cars and within fifteen minutes I was inside the building. I looked behind me making sure no one was following me. I laughed at my caution. This building was in the middle of nowhere. No sane man would stumble upon The Johnson's Plumbing Service Company. I'm pretty sure it wasn't even listed in the phone book.
Walking towards the freezer, I fumbled for my phone.
"Shoot." I muttered under my breath. I forgot. I had left it on the charger. I just had to cross my fingers and hope my parents hadn't killed Nicole yet. They didn't really cope well together.
Inside the 'freezer', I looked up from my bag and dis a double take.
Inside everyone was in a panic. People scurried everywhere, some in uniforms, some others not. Everyone was armed with something though, big and small.
And it was packed. I could barely weave through the crowd. This was serious. This was big. This was all my fault.
People were staring, not even trying to hide it. Some were glares, others in awe. Mostly glares.
I ignored them the best I could.
I caught sight of Richard. "What is going on here?" I hissed under my breath.
"What are you talking about?" he replied.
"Why is everyone here?"
"Didn't you hear? John Banks is alive." he said nonchalantly.
I sighed irritably. "I know! But why is there a whole army here? A shot through the head and he's dead."
"We fight army with army."
I guess I looked confused because he continued. "He has an army of his own this time."
"An army?"
"About a hundred out there waiting. Who knows how much he has in hiding. I guess you would call that an army."
Really? I hadn't seen anyone. I spoke my thoughts.
Richard laughed. "Nat."
He laughed again. "This, is going to be so, much, fun."
**
Outside was pure chaos. Turns out there was a mini war outside. I wondered how I had walked inside without noticing anything. I had better get my eyes checked.
People were falling down on both sides, falling dead like flies.
I smiled. Feels like home.
I took out my .22 and took down two men in one shot, dodging a bullet.
Richard was right. This was fun.
After using up five bullets I reloaded, but stuck my gun in my pocket. Safe for later.
Somewhere a balloon of red burst up in the air, and everyone within 100 yards got down, hiding from the heat. I strolled on, a walk in the park. I loved this.
"Are you crazy? Get down!" someone beside me yelled as another bomb went off. I waved him off.
Amateurs.
I walked steadily away from the heat, and I left unscarred. Like I knew I would.
By now there were bodies every four steps, but I ignored them like I always do. It's so much easier to pretend like the bigger picture isn't there, and it's just you and the enemy. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like a life or death situation. Sometimes meaning always for me.
This was small compared to some other mini 'wars' I had been in. I was surprised though. Normally Richard trusted we could take down the other side with fifty, maybe a hundred men. Today everyone was out. Not that I cared.
Stepping over carcasses, I drew out my mini and hit a few more men. Ew. It smelled like raw meat. Correction, burnt meat. If I wasn't used to it I would've thrown up. I caught sight of Richard and walked up to him.
I must've been smiling or something, because he said, "Fun?"
I replied, smirking. "Hell yeah."
"I haven't seen him." Richard said, absentmindedly.
"Seen who?"
"Banks. I haven't seen him."
Oh yeah. Banks. "You know him. Always has to make a grand entrance."
Richard looked at me out of the side of his eye. "You are something else altogether Natassja."
"Just figured that out?" I said, already losing interest in the conversation.
Everyone was on the ground, and I smiled, just a little confused. No one was shooting. Oh well. More fun for me.
I had barely positioned my finger on the trigger, when a burst of flames erupted somewhere not too far behind me, and all hell broke loose.
So sorry I was late..so sorry this is still short..
Ok, I know you have questions. First of all, this 'event' could go by unnoticed by society because the Johnsons plumbing service is in the middle of nowhere ish. Ok?
You can't really feel the action around you cause Nat doesn't feel it. Like you know when you're in a dream and everything else like doesn't matter? Ok and any more questions?
