~~~~~~I've been staying at Jared's house for two weeks now, and for those two weeks not once did my parents try to call me. It's not like I've given up on them trying to accept me, but I have kind of learned to live without them, just in case they end up not caring.
It was now Saturday, and Jared and I had planned a nice day out just for the two of us. His parents are out and Megan is at friends, leaving us alone. Alone, as in just him and me. I had intentions of us doing something really special, and maybe, just maybe we could finally do it.
I dress in casual clothes- plaid and jeans- as I wait for Jared to finish getting ready. Once he's ready, we make our walk to the nearby park. It was a beautiful day for being out. The breeze was soft, and the sun was out yet not hot enough to sweat. The sky was as blue as water, and the grass was a vivid green. It was definitely perfect.
We find an isolated place in the corner of the area and lay out a blanket to sit on. I sit down first, dragging Jared along into my lap. With my legs crossed, Jared positioned himself so that he sat in the gap between my legs and leaned his head back so he could lay it on my shoulder. He closes his eyes, and with a sigh he mumbles," It feels so great out here, don't you think?"
"Yeah, it's almost as gorgeous as you," I state causing him to blush. He bites his lip softly as he looks up into my eyes. I give him a smirk, but he looks away shyly. I chuckle slightly, loving how adorable he was.
"You're such a suck-up," he snickers, making his nose crunch up. I boop it softly causing us both to go into a fit of laughter.
"You hungry? I brought sandwiches," Jared finally asks once we calm down. I nod because honestly, when ain't I hungry? Without moving from where he sat on my lap, he reaches for his backpack and pulls out two plastic baggies. He hands one to me. Opening the bag, I take out the PB&J and take a bite. It's gone within seconds.
Without a thought, I lean back and look up at the sky. Jared joins me. Wrapping my arm around him, we look at the clouds together. Mindlessly, I run my hand through his slightly long hair. I point up at the sky with my free hand, "That kinda looks like a wolf howling."
"Really? It looks like a hippo to me," Jared says. His shoulders shake with laughter as he points up to the sky, "That one looks like a dragon."
"No way, that's obviously an octopus," I protest. Jared just scoffs as he rolls on top of me so our faces are only inches apart. I lean in towards him, but he moves back before I can close the distance completely.
"Not until you admit it's a dragon," he teases. I push out my lip in a pout, but he doesn't give in.
"How about we call it a dragopus?" I ask, combining the two. He raises his eyebrow in confusion, giving me the opportunity to sneak a kiss. For a brief moment, our lips connect before I pull off, expecting a slight scolding from Jared. Instead, he grabs my shirt into his fist as he crashed our lips together. Who was I to deny such affection, so I kiss back with just as much love.
We pull off every once in awhile to breathe but are back on each other within milliseconds. Our tongues slide together in a rough but loving way. My lips grow tired after a bit, so with a pop, we pull off each other.
Jared grins at me with red and slightly swollen lips. I smile back mouthing out the words 'I love you'. He replies with a silent 'love you too' before resting his head on my shoulder. We watch quietly at the kids playing on the playground set, their smiles twinkling like diamonds and happiness etched on their small faces.
"Do you still love your parents?" Jared asks suddenly. He shifts his head on my shoulder so he could look up at my face.
"Yeah, I mean who doesn't love their parents? It's just... I don't know. I guess they've forgotten me," I answered with a shrug. Jared sighs rubbing his nose into my neck.
"When was the last time you called them or even talked to them?" He breathed. I shrug again.
"Since the fight," I admit. I look down at him and study his face. I couldn't tell what he was thinking. I move his bangs out of his face.
"Jensen... You should talk to your parents. I mean at least try. If it doesn't work then I'll forget about it," he says. I sigh for what felt like the millionth time today.
"Okay..."I promised. A smile reappeared onto his face making me smile too. He reaches into his backpack again and gives me the phone. I look up at him then the phone and back at him pondering about it ,"Now?"
"Yeah, now. You'd chicken out if we did it later," he inquired sticking his tongue out at me. Opening the phone, I stick my tongue out at him in a mockingly way. I get up and make my way to a nearby tree as I dialed my mom's number. I hoped her words wouldn't be as harsh as my dad's would. She was my best bet. I take a breath as I pressed call.
I pace as it rings. 1 ring, 2 rings, 3 rings. I was about to end the call when suddenly, "Hello?"
"Mom?" I choke out. It's silent for a second.
"Jensen?" She says. I frown at the disappointment in her voice.
"Yeah," I state awkwardly. As if a habit, I rub the back of my neck even though she can't see me.
"Well..." She starts but someone interrupts from the other side.
"Is that Jensen? Give me the phone," I hear from the other side. The voice was muffled, so I couldn't tell who it was. I guess my mom handed the phone over because then the voice says," What do you want, Jensen?"
"Dad?" I ask weakly.
"Don't call me that. You're not my son anymore," he scoffs. The words hit me hard. I clear my voice pushing the tears away.
"Well, I just called to talk," I notified him.
"What is there to talk about?" He snaps harshly. I shudder at the tone. I closed my eyes trying my best not to yell at him. Instead, I spoke softly.
"Why you haven't called," I explain calmly.
"You are nothing to us. That's why we haven't called. We don't want to talk to some fag," he yells. Those words cause the tears to fall, and my temper to be let loose.
"I'm still the same person," I hiss. Why couldn't he just realize that?
"No, you're not. You turned twisted," he objected, "You're going to hell Jensen, and no one can help you now."
"Dad..." I try.
"Stop. I really don't want to hear your side. It wouldn't matter anyway," he interrupted, "I don't want you ever to talk to me, my wife, or Mackenzie again. I don't need them to be demented like yo-"
"Dad, watch out!" Mackenzie's screams from the other side and several horns of vehicles go off. Then suddenly there is a loud, nasty crashing sound.
"Dad?" I ask into the phone. No answer. I yell into the phone, "Dad!?"
Call ended
