"I really think this one is the one!" I rolled my eyes at my mom who was bouncing in her seat with excitement.
"You said that the last eight towns we stopped in" and it was true every time she said that, she would change her mind saying it just didn't feel like home, and we would continue driving.
She sighed "But this one is different" I couldn't help but laugh at her
I straightened and turned my full attention towards her "Why is this one different?"
She smiled "Well I was looking up near by towns a few rest stops ago, and saw this little town by the mountains. Its perfect for us hun I know it! So much so I bought a house there yesterday!" She was excited but I felt a little sick.
"WHAT!?! Why didn't you tell me?!" I wasn't angry at her just hurt she didn't talk to me first....
She looked guilty and I felt bad for yelling at her. "I just....we can't keep doing this Terra....this place just felt right and I had to jump on it" She turned her head to glance at me and gave me a soft smile "Have I ever let you down?"
"Weeeeelllllll" she slapped me on the arm but let out a laugh. I turned looking out the window I saw nothing but trees and mountains.
"So how far are we from this perfect town"
she looked at a mile marker and smiled "Ten minutes"
I sighed, so this town would be my new home. Was I ready? Well I did know we were both tired of being on the road....I glanced at my mom and couldn't help but smile.
We're almost identical, long dark brown hair, full lips, and both very short. The only differences between us are our eyes, hers are baby blue and mine are gray mixed with deep blue but change a lot and I have small dimples.
Sometimes pople would mistake us for sisters and it didn't really bother me, I love my mother she's all I've ever had.....and the only person I would ever need.

It wasn't long before we were at town limits. I squinted at an upcoming sign that read: 'Welcome to Lone Oaks Population: 388' I sighed so I'll be more than the new girl, I'll be the girl who didn't grow up here....
Five minutes later we were passing through town. I could see a small coffee shop next to a book store and that alone made me smile. There was also a hard wood store, auto shop, produce store, thrift shop, gas station and a clothing store. I know where I was going as soon we were settled.
It took about 20 minute's before we came to a long driveway that went up onto a hill just outside of town. So it basically screamed welcome serial killers....we pulled up to a white town house and my jaw dropped.
"How much did you pay for this?!"
She rolled her eyes and huffed "It wasn't that much Terra, the man said the old owners just wanted it gone ASAP and cut me a deal"
I shook my head "Yea because that doesn't send off any alarms"
She just waved me away lifting up the mat grabbing a white envelope.
To say the house was to much for two people would be an understatement it was a 5 bedroom house with a large property
"Alright pick a room and let's get these boxes in and then I'll send you to town for paint" she closed the door before going into the living room and then down a hall, which had to lead to the kitchen and dinning room. The house was fully furnished and just needed a few touch ups.
I started up the stairs, then going to the right. After looking at random rooms I finally found my favorite room it was the last one on the left, it had a medium sized closet, a bathroom and double doors that went out to one of the two small balconies. I looked out to see tree's and the mountains in the distance and I loved it!
After bringing in the boxes, I headed to the store with a very long list. The drive didn't feel as long as it did coming in, and it wasn't long before I had checked off moms list and had my light purple paint.
"Do you need help?" My head snapped up to see a girl, she looked to be my age and had long medium brown hair and light green eyes,Tan skin and she looked fit and like she shouldn't be talking to someone like me.
I snapped out of my daze and nodded "Thank you so much"
She smiled and waved me off, reaching for some of my bags "Its no problem, so you live around here?"
I opened the trunk and set the bags in turning to her "yea and my mom just moved here"
"That's great!! We haven't had anyone new here for a while or so. So I guess you moved in to the Hamptons old place?" Something flashed in her eyes at the name Hampton but it was gone before I could figure it out.
"Yea its a cute house. So whats your name?"
"Oh I'm sorry!! I was just so excited to meet you! Its Stacey Castillo " she gave me a grin and stuck out her hand, I shook her hand and smiled
"Terra wilson"
On the way home I only had two things on my mind, the Hamptons and hope.
