Chapter 13

-Jeremy-

Cole didn’t flinch.

“What the hell are you!?” I screamed at them not wanting any of this to be happening. I wanted all this to be a dream, which I would wake up any second. God please let me be dreaming.

“The question is what are we?” Ashley pointed at the three of them, and then from behind she pointed down the street.

“You mean Mia’s one of you?” Amanda smiled at my question.

“No, she and Jesse are protecting something special.” She paused looking me in the eye. I felt darkness all around me. All of their eyes where completely black, demon like. I had no idea what in the hell they were or what Jesse and Mia are protecting. What I do know is I’m scared, because they had her forget to get whatever she is trying to protect.

“This thing, they are protecting is much more vulnerable without any memory.” Amanda wasn’t the person I remembered, but I knew she felt the same way for my brother.

“Amanda what happened?” I looked into her eyes pleading and I saw the darkness disappear for only a split second followed by one tear falling down her left cheek. I knew at that moment she was taken away by force, but how and why. She is the only person who really ever loved my brother and I know she would do anything to keep him safe. I think this is the price she pays.

“Well I think it’s time to go.” Cole and Ashley turned around walking down the middle of the dark deserted street. Amanda stayed behind.

“I’m so sorry Jeremy, don’t ever trust me for now on.” The darkness left her eyes. This was my chance.

“Your only protecting him, I get that.” She grinned, looking down and taking a deep breath. Looking back up her eyes was no longer. She was gone.

“I don’t care about your brother!” She hissed at me and becoming eviler every second.

“And Mia is going to burn in hell; mind as well burn with her. You’re dead to me!” I stepped back not believing my ears. She was gone and I could do nothing to help her now, she was gone.

She turned around and headed down the street where Cole and Ashley were waiting, slowly they disappeared into darkness headed wherever that thing they are protecting. Probably it’s worth dying for.

-Mia-

I didn’t know where exactly we were going, but it was about a fifteen-minute ride not too far from home. We pulled into a school parking lot and he parked the car. I was reaching for the door when he stopped me by placing his hands on mine.

“This doesn’t seem familiar to you?” He asked and I shook my head confused.

“Well…” I asked. He looked at me and grinned and took his hands off mine and placed them on his lap.

“Well this is where you ended it or tried at least.”

“Tried?”

“I kind of made it hard for you.” He told me about the dance and after I was found in the forest. Hearing what we had together had me smile when he talked about memories we shared or used to share. I didn’t understand why I broke things off with him, but this is a great reason to start it back up again and to make things right.

“Want a milkshake?” He brought me back to reality and I nodded.

“What’s my favorite?”
