I hopped off the train and pushed through the massive crowd, not caring how many first years I topple over. I just wanted to get sorted into my house and spend some more quality time with Harry. Is it even possible to be any more excited?

My thoughts were interrupted by Hagrid the Gatekeeper. Hagrid was a tall and large man with a very deep voice; anyone would've thought he was strict and terrifyingly scary but he was the complete opposite- nice and sensitive. Bit of a weird match, i know. But what I've heard from Harry about him, I have no doubt that he will help me in a time of need.

"Come on, firs' years. And Lily, mustn't forget you now. Everyone get into partners and get in to one of these boats" Hagrid bellowed. I carefully climbed into one of the boats, not wanting to slip into the water.

"Hello, I'm Black. William Black. " William had black hair and black eyes. His hair was in a curly mess at the top but shorter on the sides. He actually looked quite elegant and a bit snobby. But I mustn't judge. He is probably a really nice boy.

"Hi there. I'm Lily, nice to meet you" I smiled at hi, trying to decide whether to carry on this conversation with him or walk away. I wasn't sure yet.

"Are you new too?" William asked. I could see him shaking and I could just about hear his teeth clatter together.

"Yes, but that's not important. You're freezing. Do you have a coat?" He shook his head, almost looking ashamed by forgetting.

"Hey, not to worry. Here. Have mine. Your need is far greater than mine" William smiled and gratefully said thank you. I smiled at him reassuringly, but instantly regretting giving him my coat as I, as well, started to get cold. Great. This is what you get for doing a good deed. Hopefully that will get me into Gryffindor!

The boats were finally drifting into the harbour and I quickly jumped ashore, eager to get into the warmth. The castle looked so beautiful with the moon reflecting off the walls, the lake glittering by the side of me and the candles shimmering through the darkness. The view I saw in front of me was picturesque and totally magnificent. It was like a fairy-tail palace; everything was divine and beautiful with its dashing renovations to admire in a simple day dream.

"Hello first years... and Miss Gilbert" The woman speaking was a very tall and skinny looking witch. She had the look of a person who is not someone to cross with on a very bad day but also had a soft heart to those who she loved. She wore a tartan sort of robe and square shaped glasses. To complete the look she wore a tall witch hat that made me think of my birthday. I began to chuckle and all heads started to turn my way. The woman gave me a stern look, but carried on her speech that she has obviously prepared for.

"I am Professor McGonagall and this is Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and wizardary and we welcome you warmly here. Now, you shall be sorted into your houses. There is Gryfindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin." I noticed that her tone of voice changed when she said the name 'Slytherin'. Is it really that bad? Come on. Why should we generalise people on where they are placed? It's just plain rude. What happens if i am placed in Slytherin? Would every one hate me? Hopefully not.

"During your time at Hogwarts, your house will be like your family. Your achievements will earn you points and any rule breaking will lose points." She looked at me at the last bit. I smirked. I don't know why she looked at me but obviously my reputation precedes me. "Am i understood?! Good. Now, get in a line of two and follow me. The sorting ceremony will begin."

We began to form the line. I went to stand at the back when someone grabbed my arm. It was William. "Hi again. You scared me." I chuckled.

"Sorry" he muttered "Hagrids got your coat by the way. He said he will send it down to your common room when you are sorted."
